Morning dread/anxiety

Does anyone else get this or know how to solve it? I have a strong feeling of dread the second I wake up in the morning, most mornings. It's before I've even opened my eyes or before I've even thought about the day ahead. I actually have a chilled and nice day planned today so no reason for it but this morning was awful. I felt dread and was close to tears. I managed to fall back asleep and felt a little better when I woke again. Going out with the dog now and will probably be fine after that. Any suggestions/advice welcome! I am 47 and likely peri menopausal if that makes a difference...

Did you drink last night? I find alcohol does this to me

I was about to ask the same, even one or two alcoholic drinks can cause this

I used to get this adrenaline surge first thing in the morning as I was waking up which made me feel terrified regardless of what was actually happening that day...... it used to calm down by the time I was out of the shower...... it was perimenopause..... along with a load of other symptoms I didn't realise were related.... HRT helped enormously.....

I did have one small can of lager with my dinner but that was at 7pm...have been on holiday this week and been drinking more than usual (one or two a night) so could be accumulative. Back to work on Monday and generally don't drink at all during the school term so will see if that helps
