Morning/evening??Grin

I'm suffering from insomnia badly right now, it comes and goes but right now it's bad. Along with cramps and a chesty cough it's not equaling a restful night.

I went to sleep easily at 10pm and woke up at 2am wide awake, tried everything to get back to sleep and nothing. Tossing and turning has made it worse and don't want to wake my husband so I'm on the sofa watching tv now!!

Anyone else up? If not up with insomnia what are you up to? Any tips or is this my day started now?Shock

Happy Saturday everyone 🩷

Hello

i often sleep well but 4yo DS came in without waking me and I woke up cold because the duvet was dislodged and I’ve not managed to get back to sleep, it’s been at least an hour and now I have a headache. Considering just getting up and making a coffee as we’re awake around 6.30 anyway 😫

There is nothing worse than waking up because you're cold. Sometimes it's just easier to give in and hope you get an hour on the sofa 😴

I was looking forward to a long lie this morning (730) compared to 545 on a weekday 😂

Stupid puppy woke me up by barking AFTER he'd shat all over the kitchen floor and then ran through it. It was pointless trying to go back to bed after I'd cleaned up so I'm watching Corrie and drinking coffee.
sigh

That's not a great wake up 🤢😂

I'm still wide awake going strong, this is going to be a long long day with little patience towards the end 😂

I’m awake with my 10 week old who has woken up chilly as we are currently on a caravan holiday. So just given her a bottle while the room warms up. We will be up again soon as other family will be awake. Didn’t go to bed until 1am so am v tired 😩

ghostbusters · 26/10/2024 05:40

OP how old are you? Insomnia was one of my first perimenopause signs. Same as you, I'd fall asleep with no problem but be wide awake by 1-2am for at least 3hrs.

I had a couple of glasses of wine last night, it often makes my insomnia worse. I also had my flu/covid vaccine the other day and my arm is quite sore too lie on so sleeping is uncomfortable. And I feel like I have the cold. Urgh.

Good morning.

I went to bed at 11 and I've been awake since 5. I usually sleep very well but over the past few weeks I've noticed that if I drink alcohol the night before it has started to affect my sleep. I had half a bottle of prosecco last night to test it and yep, awake early again. I'm wondering if I ought to stop drinking alcohol. Really don't want to be up at this time on the weekend!

Caravan holiday at the end of Nov with a 10 week old?! You must be made of strong stuff 😄

@Horr12 i am cursed with it.
i can-if uninterupted-quite effortlessly sleep 8am-3pm daily.
its never permitted. i do you tube hypnosis.michael sealy is good place to start.
i dont always "sleep"some nights i repeatedly click next video-but..theres a soft lull thats not as bad as agitated \wake too soon.

GotoutoftheUKphew · 26/10/2024 06:16

I’m also going through a bout of this at the moment. Awful isn’t it.

I am out like a light when I go to bed but wide awake at 2 or 3 am.

i read somewhere that a banana can help. Not sure if it’s the placebo effect with me but sometimes if I eat a banana and drink a glass of water when I wake up, I can get back to sleep. Maybe worth a try anyway.

Agree that alcohol makes it more extreme.

Sometime if I do certain yoga positions before bed, I sleep better (google yoga for sleeping or relaxation). Walking in the evening helps too

Good luck all of us for getting through today and all the best for a good nights sleep tonight.

Luckily it’s my mums caravan so we are well equipped. We brought her for first time when she was 2 weeks old 🙈 was warmer then though. We have a 12 year old too who wants to join in the halloween stuff etc.

We will be back here again several weekends until mid December so this is tip of the iceberg 🥶

Funny you should say that because I've been in the menopause since I was 27. I'm 32 now and still on HRT so the insomnia is one of the symptoms I get. Not had it for a good year. Hopefully this isn't it back again 😭

Been awake since 2 and still going strong!
