Do you ever get so distracted by something in a movie that it distracts you from the plot?

While watching Jurassic World, I can't get past how the main character, Claire, runs around the park in massive high heels, doing all that she does. It distracts me too much! If someone injures themselves and carries on, the injury and lack of treatment occupy my thoughts to the point where I'm unable to follow the storyline. Does this happen to you too when you watch movies?

When an actress playing a cop or spy is chasing bad guys or doing some heavy duty action with her hair open. Just plait it or tie it up!

Hair usually looks immaculate too

When there's a bedroom scene and the woman has full make-up on. When will she remove her make-up? Will she spend the night in her make-up, with her mascara all messy in the morning and her skin bad because it can't 'breathe' underneath that foundation.

Very obvious plastic surgery. I'm so busy thinking "My God, what has she/he done to their face?!" that I don't hear what they're saying.

Misunderstandings in movies because someone can't interject and set someone straight in seconds drive me potty.

Characters with dogs that never require any walks or attention and just peacefully hang out at home alone for 12+ hours on end

When characters drive somewhere and instantly find a parking space right outside the building

Especially in central London/New York

No one ever, ever, needs the loo.

Ridiculous.

And in most sex scenes the woman has her bra firmly on throughout. As if!

When an otherwise ordinary character has an unexpected adventure and nobody cares that they've been missing from their workplace/school/home for days or weeks on end.

whatwouldyoudoifisangoutofkey · 25/10/2024 21:56

How characters sprinting after someone run SO badly !

When a couple who,ve been having sex all night leap out of bed and they both have pants on.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 25/10/2024 22:05

When there are car chases and multiple cars get hit and are trashed.

I can't help but think that must be murder for the insurance companies.

Also when people are fighting and they end up crashing into things, falling down holes but never ever seem to get hurt. They just get up and keep on fighting. I'd be limping and crying all over the place. But then I'm a complete wimp.

People in movies seem to recover from mental and physical trauma very quickly!

When people jump into various kinds of aircraft, helicopters, hovercraft, spaceships etc and instantly know how to fly them. That shit takes training.

The various, and endless, Fast & Furious films are the worst for this. Apparently several of the main actors have it written into the contract that they can't get significantly injured or lose in any fight so it means that they can be hit by pretty much anything and then just crack their neck and get on to the next scene.

username1478 · 25/10/2024 22:13

When women fight like men. Conversely when women jump on a man's back during a fight.🙄

Oh, really? That's so interesting to learn about their contracts.

It is always called out

Nothing even semi-significant, but I drive DH batty (we'll actually he laughs at me, if I ever see a really nice oak front door or beautiful windows or some lovely artwork.
Unfortunately I only spot them in the pivotal moments of tense dramas.

Yes, it's miraculous the way the hero never loses his perfect teeth despite being struck in the face by a metal pipe!

Also, people spend hours running around with gunshot wounds as if they were a minor annoyance like a paper cut.

The empty mugs always bother me too. It’s so obvious it’s distracting.

Also, bedroom scenes and sleeping without closing curtains. Why can’t they close them?

All the standing up sex too, it's fairly awkward and difficult in real life!
