Lottery winners car

MidnightMilkman · 25/10/2024 20:54

When I receive that email in the morning, telling me I have news, what car/s do I buy?

I like to wait for the email and not check the results, because I like to go to bed thinking I may have won 😆😆

My requirements:

  1. A family car. Can be 5 of 7 seats, but the three rear seats must be separate (picasso style - but unfortunately this isn't made anymore). Good boot space, and a touch of luxury. Ideally not a 4x4 (although I do love them) as I want to fit in parking spaces, though I can be swayed if it really is the best option.
  1. VW transporter, new style with power steering, heating etc, pop top roof with beds so it sleeps 4. What's the best one you've seen?
Must be a VW, can't be swayed on that - it's my dream.

What do you recommend? And what would you buy?

Also, where do lottery winners book holidays? Is there a fancy travel agent that will be able to book exactly what I want?

Aston Martin

You use a luxury concierge type service

MidnightMilkman · 25/10/2024 21:05

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit yes, I should add a totally impractical but beautiful car to that list.
And also somewhere to store it as I don't want that on my drive advertising my wealth.

Yes, as a would be Euromillions winner I too ponder that problem. My chosen house is down a driveway though!

MidnightMilkman · 25/10/2024 21:15

I don't actually want to move - but I would buy an extra nice big house that would fit my extended family in for events and holidays. Maybe I'll keep the impractical car there.

I've considered a flat in London as an extra bolthole Grin

mumda · 25/10/2024 21:34

I've picked my new house out. And were going to have a selection of cats. And I'll be putting the heating on.
Oh and hotel Chocolat will be delivering a large hamper.

ChickenDeChick · 25/10/2024 21:37

The current owners of my house to be are doing a good job of maintaining the lawns and the lake and there's ample parking for my Range Rover.

I just hope they can get packed and move out quickly....

Wolframandhart · 25/10/2024 21:49

Im currently watching Rivals for ideas on my new lifestyle. 7 seater range rover and a nippy sporty number on the drive.

I was looking for a bolt hold in Bath.

I'd just stay in that hotel on the royal crescent anytime I fancied a trip to Bath. I have actually stayed once, the breakfast was amazing.

I've got my eye on a 4 bed bungalow, nothing flashy, it's only £575k so will be small change when I win the Euromillions. The good thing is it has a treble garage, so will have room for my car collection.

Touloosia · 25/10/2024 22:09

I'm sorry to break it to you but I'm winning this week.

I've always thought the lottery people will advise and have accountants/concierge services who will help ease you into life as a multi millionaire :) I might be imagining it but I'm sure I read it once!

I'll be buying my rural retreat in Hampshire, my husband's cars and booking a holiday for every single school holiday for the next 14 years!

LifeisNOTlikeemmerdalefarm · 25/10/2024 22:09

Our friends won £8.7million.
If they want to go on holiday they have a special phone number to call and everything is sorted for them. Right down to being picked up from home.
They belong to the millionaire club.
Which also helped them to buy a car.

I could probably spare £1-2m of the £61m for a little 2 bed flat near Covent Garden. That one doesn't need a parking space.

I need to hear more of this!
Whats the millionaire club? Did they have to go public to get the info on these services?
How did they find out they'd won 😆😆

Aston Martin for me, the nanny can ferry the kids about in my current car (Range Rover). I'd probably also move out of the area to somewhere warmer (Napa Valley anyone?).

Camelot do have certain financial adviser/investment management firms they recommend, I used to work for one but in the professional services team!

Onand · 25/10/2024 22:33

Ha! I always wait for the email too. Place marking this thread so that when I win I’ll remember so I can buy you that VW 🤗

9GreenBottles · 25/10/2024 22:45

I’m afraid to break it to you all but I’ve won this evening. Better luck next week.

However, since we have a couple of people who have been close-ish to the action on the thread, will I get a phone call as I bought my ticket online so they have all my details, or do I have to check the app and then contact them? Normally my wins show up immediately but I don’t think there’s enough space to fit £63,000,000.00 in where my balance shows at the top of the app screen.

I also need to know if they will help me find a land agent, a great architect and a reliable builder because I want to have my dream home built.

LifeisNOTlikeemmerdalefarm · 25/10/2024 22:50

The Husband bought his first ever lottery ticket while waiting for his wife to get her hair cut.
Wife told him off for wasting money.
Watched the results that night realised he had all the numbers and phoned his son to come and check.
It took 3 days to claim, there was no pressure to go public.
They had what they called a low publicity message.
They went to a local 'posh' hotel for photos. It was in the local paper but not in the nationals.
We found out as we live next door and both husbands worked together.
I believe lots in the millionaire club didn't have publicity.

They took a number of friends out for a meal. They didn't move as they are in their 80's. The best thing was they can now afford to visit their sons in America.
First class of course.
In the 5 years since they won there has as far as I know NO negative feelings towards them.
She still shops in Asda and he drinks Half a bitter.

Christmaschristingle · 25/10/2024 23:53

@LifeisNOTlikeemmerdalefarm

I'm glad they fly 1st class to see their son but I don't think it's a good thing to still shop in asds but I guess they are too set in their ways

whatdoidonowffs · 26/10/2024 00:11

One of the perks of my job is I get to drive all sorts of fancy cars think McLaren,Ferrari, Lamborghini etc
it has spoiled my lottery win Sunday morning spend as I’ve realised I’m too old and too fat to be messing around in supercars the only comfortable one is a Bentley so I’ll have one of those please

MidnightMilkman · 26/10/2024 07:43

£71m on Tuesday. Obvs the universe thought £61m wasn't enough so I'll have to wait a few more days

I think I’d buy something like an Audi for the family car and then something a little more sporty. Don’t know what though.

First holiday to book would be to Antarctica on a cruise. First class flights obviously. Edited to add, I like researching and booking holidays so I don’t think I’d phine someone to do that for me. I love planning a holiday.
