Anyone else had a cold since August?

I have congested lungs and sinuses, pressure in my head aka a head cold, but otherwise feel fine. I need to blow my nose a couple of times a day and cough to clear out the congestion and those are my symptoms.

I met a dog walking friend and she had exactly the same symptoms and her cold had also been going on for months too. She knows lots of other people with the same cold.

Anyone else? I don’t feel ill but the wet cough and snotty nose can be a bit embarrassing in certain situations.

This is me too. Just fed up of feeling snotty!

TeenLifeMum · 24/10/2024 11:18

Yep. Then 3 weeks ago it was really bad - pretty sure it was covid, now I’m back to continually being a bit snotty and run down. I need winter sun (not going to happen).

Interesting 🤔 I have done a couple of covid tests which are negative but the cough is definitely not a covid cough and I don’t have a headache.

One of my kids has had a blocked up nose, coughs and sneezes since he went back to school six weeks ago. It seems to be never-ending!

Me! I have felt periodically better at points, so I thought maybe it's been 3 different colds in quick succession. I have done a couple of covid tests over the last 3 months (because of visiting elderly relatives) and they've all been clear.

I'm starting to wonder whether it's actually allergies? I don't feel particularly unwell, just alternating between streaming and stuffy nose, and horrible pressure/sinus pain as you describe.

BellaPommefritio · 24/10/2024 11:57

Yes, and then got covid last week on top of it. One thing I'm thinking of doing is taking vitamin D from June so it's had 3 months in my system to help ward off respiratory things (which lead to nasal issues for me) from early Sept when the kids go back. I have rhinitis so it's hard to tell a cold from allergies sometimes.

Still sniffing. It’s getting embarrassing now.

I had what felt like a never ending illness with a cold and respiratory tract infection at the beginning of the year. I’m sure it went on for 2-3 months! Hung around long after finishing a course of antibiotics.

Finally saw it off when I started taking multivitamins and live friendly bacteria, which I have kept on top of taking with good results so far. There does appear to be some positive research behind it (eg https://www.healthspan.co.uk/advice/body/can-probiotics-help-immunity-the-effect-on-colds-and-flu/?srsltid=AfmBOoqrF7wqycrfw6rg8GwQnd0umC3t8XZ2tqM3NiB5twDg42ZFcFhO ). I take the live friendly bacteria from H&B.

Find out if there is a link between healthy gut bacteria and our body's response to cold and flu-like viruses.

DH seems to have been like this for months!

ThomasPatrickKeatingsDegas · 26/10/2024 06:44

Ask for a prescription steroid nasal spray for post nasal drip. I’m guessing that’s what the issue is after a long infection.

Loveheartsandlockets · 26/10/2024 13:57

I have a nasal spray but I think I don’t use it appropriately as the liquid runs down the back of my throat and tastes bitter - no, I’m not drinking it! It does go up my nose thanks for asking.
