I have an annoying Puppy and I'm watching yesterday's Coronation Street.

I love that photo of Turkey Marylou - whereabouts are you?

I'm usually awake between 4-5, I've got used to it now but wish I was motivated enough to use the time constructively by getting up for the gym or even just watch tv instead of scrolling mindlessly ! But I am happy as for some reason my Mumsnet account hasn't been working for several weeks but now back to normal so at last I can post!

Thinking of you Flibberdigibbit.

Marmaris and it's beautiful...
I'm an insomniac anyway but if you have to be awake at least it's a lovely view!
And last night there was lots of DRAMA!! There was a shooting in the bar next to us and major panic in our hotel..guests probably thinking terrorist attack?
Police, two people taken away in the ambulances. I'd already gone up to the room so watched it from the 5th floor..
But this morning it's as if nothing happened...

I am loving the variety of reasons on this - great distraction and way to pass this time so thanks OP!

I'm learning pets are as bad as kids for keeping one awake, but my eldest really wants a puppy so that will need a lot of consideration!

Fair play to the gymmers, I had your energy once but cosleeping has killed that 5-6am gym dream stone dead for me.

To those worrying about work - I hope you can find a way for it to be overcome; if you're in a toxic team or environment it can wear you down - if possible in bigger organisations think about a move to another department as a quick way to change maybe? I always worry when people leave without a job lined up which is really tempting when it's tough, but it's hard to job search when recovering from stress and it's a process that inherently is stressful too. It doesn't mean you have to stay, just more think creatively about all the options if there's scope to xx

@Flibberdigibbit sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was in the same situation when my children were 4 and 7 and the waiting for appointments / results etc is excruciating and exhausting.

you are right re work woes but when burnout hits it’s so hard to think rationally. I know I need to have some time out but for various reasons I am trying to hold out for a few more weeks. I am getting married near Christmas and feel I can’t go sick in the run up to the wedding as it will look bad. Ironically I have a meeting today about sickness levels in the organisation and how to improve the stats !

In A&E, where I've been for the past 48 hours with an infection. Finally got a trolley to lie on late last night while they try and get a bed on a ward. Sat up in the waiting room until then. It's been hellish.

Haven't had a shower or a proper meal since I got here. Much better off than some poor people lying around me though. I'm missing my little DD and wanting to go home 😢

Hope they sort you out very soon xx

Cheesetoastiees · 24/10/2024 06:56

Woke up at 5am because could hear toddler wiggling around on monitor. Originally couldn’t sleep because it’s the first time he’s slept through since he was 4 months old (now 15 months and usually up 3/4 times a night so praying this isn’t a fluke but got worried if he was okay!).

Now I have a bad headache and can’t settle, going to get a cup of tea and some toast now!

Awaiting scans today for my very recent cancer diagnosis. I'm bricking it. I want to be here for my children and I'm trying to think positively but I'm so afraid.

Thinking of you X

PandaChopChop · 24/10/2024 07:12

It's my last big travel day for work so I've just got packed up ready to go, as I'm going to north Wales for a well deserved break after i have finished today. On my own without the DC!
Worrying because I've got an interview next week and another job application to put in. It feels never ending at the moment.

Carpr · 24/10/2024 07:16

We are away in the caravan and we want to get an early start home so I was sorting out a few things before we leave shortly

Deathraystare · 24/10/2024 07:25

@Marylou62
OOh my goodness. Hope they were ok!

@Flibberdigibbit

Fingers and toes crossed for you.

@EvenLess
Hope things get better soon.

As for me I was about to hit the shower at 5pm but went in a bit later. Now at work eating my porridge!

I was restless with lots on my mind so I put my scruffs on (there not scruffy I just call my accessible if I need to rush out quickly outfit my scruffs) and took myself for a coffee at the coffee shop down the road which opens early I'll be home to start the day soon with a fresh mindset after I've mind jotted everything.

Nothing compared to some of you here but I've been awake for a while feeling very sad.

We had to have our 16 year old cat to sleep on Tuesday night after she was diagnosed with cancer and clearly in a lot of pain. We cleared all her things out yesterday as it was upsetting to see them around the house.

I dreamed about her and could hear her miaowing and haven't been able to sleep since. I'm just so sad and miss her

IMO it's as bad as losing any family member. You are allowed to feel sad xx

@Hoglet70 thank you. I was made to feel a bit silly yesterday crying at work so it's nice to know I'm not over reacting x

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/10/2024 15:53

Oh @Imamumgetmeoutofhere I'm sorry. I would be (and have been) the same Flowers
