Any idea what this pot is?

I'm clearing out my in laws house and this funny little guy just came down from the loft, protected in bubble wrap. The lid is pretty lethal. It's hollow so I some kind of decorative pot. Any ideas anyone?

It's fabulously awful. i'd be putting a plant in it and putting it on the patio

Thank you everyone. Those weird cartoons are v v odd! Yes, it's been an emotional few weeks getting to the point of finally clearing the house. Ever if an era, in laws lived there for almost 50 years.
