Holiday of a lifetime but going to miss my dog!

We are off a wonderful holiday this week and my lovely friend is having my dog for me, I’ve bought her some gifts to say thank you but I’m going to miss him so much. I’m worried he will think I’ve abandoned him!
He’s three and hes the best boy, wish I could explain it to him so he knows we will be back!
My family think I’m nuts!!

Kindly you are being a bit nuts 😉

he might miss you a bit but he will be fine and he will be very excited to see you when you get home!

enjoy your holiday and stop worrying!

Yes, you're nuts.

I know what it is like to miss your pets though.

I left mine in February for 3 weeks while I went to Australia to see my DS1 (who married an Aussie)
THE GUILT! Her lovely breeders had her for me (they did it previously in 2022)
She was quiet the first day, then FINE.
They sent me photos every few days ..is that an option?

He will just be SO happy when he sees you again. :)

Cat! My cat.

How long are you going for? I am sure they will have a fab time with your friend and be spoiled rotten. Our dog used to go to the dog boarder’s house without a backward glance, which used to offend me 😀

The joy our dog had when DS came back for the holidays from uni was something special to behold.

I cried every morning of my 2 week honeymoon as I missed my dog. He would have loved the breakfast buffet sausages.
I’m still married!

We just heading home from holiday after 2 weeks, first time I’ve left our dog with my son and felt the same, he’s fine but desperate to see him tomorrow
have a lovely holiday he’ll be fine but I totally understand your feelings

You’re not nuts. I think it’s sweet. I know people that leave their dogs for weeks at a time and I think it’s sad. At least you love him so much that you will miss him and you care about his well being. I prefer that over people who are cruel to animals

Thank you, it’s very strange without my little shadow.

Ah that’s so sweet. I miss my cats and wish I didn’t have to leave them! I think it’s normal and you look forward to seeing them again!

I get you OP. I love my softie big boy lab so much. I have been away without him of course but I still find myself looking at pictures of him.
