Ok so can anyone who love slo ally or spends a lot of time there help.

I want to take my sons to BPL tomorrow evening. I don't know where to park. I don't want to park too far away or down any back alleys as I'm on my own. I once got followed by a gang of men in a car park in Blackpool once so I get really nervous 🙈

What is the best time to get there and where do I park that's safe at that time 😬

You could park in blackoool south near the big blue hotel which is the one for the pleasure beach. You are h the en within sight of the tram stop.

We always parked in a residential street near the Pleasure Beach then you can get the tram at the Squies Gate terminus to Bispham. Hopped off got chips, walked past the big tableaus eating chips then back on a tram back to the car.

We went last weekend and there is a brand new multi storey car park next to the Coral Island car park, so a good position. We parked there and it was very secure and reasonably priced. Had lots of free spaces too as you went up, considering it was a Sat eve when we went.

Central Multi Storey Car Park

@cookiedough174 - you could drive to Bispham, (where the tableaux are), and park on one of the side streets just off Red Bank Road. You could then get the tram from Bispham to Starr Gate and back again.

If you get there for 6.15pm you will see the lights switch on. You can be up to Starr Gate by tram and back to Bispham whilst it’s still relatively early.

Bispham is a residential area and pretty quiet, ime. There is street parking. Alternately, if you don’t mind a 15 minute walk, you can park in one of the Bispham village car parking spaces or at the Bispham Premier Inn/Red Lion on Devonshire Road for free and then walk up Red Bank Road.

Thank you all. I'm abit nervous about getting the tram. I've never got it before, i don't know what to ask to do or what time 🙈😂
My friend said about parking in houdshill car park? Is that normally quiet/safe 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi @cookiedough174 - the tram is fun and safe. You just wait at the stop and get in it like a bus. Transport in Blackpool isn’t cheap, but if you are just getting a return ticket from Bispham to Starr Gate it won’t be too bad.

Hounds Hill is in the centre of Blackpool so in the middle of the Lights. It’s an old-fashioned multi storey car park open until 11.30pm.

Personally, if I was nervous about being in central Blackpool at night, I would park in Bispham and go up to Starr Gate and back by tram.

Bispham is a quiet residential area - it’s where I grew up - I’ll look for the postcode for Red Bank Road then you can Google it.

IlovePond · 22/10/2024 08:08

@cookiedough174 the postcode for Red Bank Road is FY2 9EA

You can actually park on Red Bank Road itself if there’s space.

I can’t get Google Maps to work this morning, but if you cut and paste this, you can see what it looks like.

I know the houses/shops wouldn’t win any prizes for looks, but it’s looked like that since I was tiny and it’s a pretty nice area, (ime). The stag parties, etc. tend not to go near Bispham so it’s quiet.

@cookiedough174 Here’s a link about trams. Please don’t be scared of them, they are great and children love them. They are a great way to see the Illuminations:

Unfortunately, the illuminated trams are sold out for tonight, but you can just catch a normal one.

@cookiedough174 - as you had a bad experience and are feeling nervous, I’d avoid central Blackpool altogether.

I forgot to say, many people just drive along the prom by car from Starr Gate and see the lights by car. It’s certainly how I used to see them as a child. We would beg our dad to start at Starr Gate, (even though it’s pretty much just a bunch of fairy lights up there🙀), when he always wanted to join the traffic at the Tower!

If driving by car, you can drive from Starr Gate along the prom to Bispham, (where the tableaux are), then park on Red Bank Road and walk back along to see them close up. Loads of people do that, and there will be other families there.

OurLadySaphire · 22/10/2024 08:26

Why do you need to park? Just drive through them to see the lights. Traffic won’t be bad on a week night

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 22/10/2024 08:32

There’s a massive new multi storey car park which if you’re coming in from motorway takes you straight to it. You have to enter your car reg to get back in so. Dry secure. We went on Sunday had a fab day.
