Recommendations for ready meal deliveries please

My best friend’s DC is having an operation soon and I want to do something practical for when he’s home. She is a single mum of two and lives too far away for me to pop up and cook or clean for them so I’d like to send some meals through the post for when he’s been discharged, so she doesn’t have to think about cooking for a few nights. Recommendations please for companies which do nice meals through the post? Google has shown me Cook, which looks nice - any experiences or other companies people have used?

I had surgery a few years ago and filled the surgery with Cook ready meals - they have a lot of choice but a bit pricey . The good thing about them is that they are all freezable, unlike say MS.

I still use Cook on a regular basis as I am on crutches - even for dinner parties and people assume stuff is home cooked if you chose the stuff with care

Think it sounds a lovely gift

Another vote for Cook! 😋 Half my freezer is meals from them for a rainy day!

We use Cook a lot. They are definitely the best. Our farm shop stocks them so we have them fairly often.

Stocked is also quite nice but you have to prep the sides.

Fab, thanks both. Have either of you used the kids’ meals? If so what age child would they fill? Wondering if I can get her a few meals for one and send some kids’ meals for the DCs.

You could also look at Field Goods which is like Cook, we've had a few of their meals and they were tasty.

My DD not hugely keen on the kids ones but portion size is good for her (5). She likes the adult ones but the individual portions
are too big. We tend to get the ones that serve 4 for the 3 or us and have leftovers.

Sent my DD Cook vouchers so they could choose what they wanted after she had DGS in July. 100% recommend!

Yes I have. DS (5) will eat all of them quite happily. They're a little big for him so he'll eat almost all of one, with a bit of veg on the side and I'll scoff the last few bites but I imagine your friend could bulk it a little with veggies/bread for older kids

Ditto to Cook. A kind relative sent a dozen after I’d just come out of hospital and wasn’t up to doing much at all.
