Alternatives to Velvitiser pouches.

Hotel Chócolat have increased the prices of the velvitiser pouches. I’d be grateful to know what alternatives people use. Drinking chocolate isn’t the same. Thank you

Finely chop chocolate and use that.
I suppose a crumbled Flake would be ideal.

You can just buy whatever chocolate bar you fancy and grate it yourself, apparently.

VictoryOrDeath · 21/10/2024 07:50

Yeah, you can just buy some high quality dark chocolate and grate that.

The M&S ones are delicious, I assume they are cheaper than HC - it's a bag of multiple servings rather than a pouch. Couldn't be bothered grating a solid bar and getting it everywhere.

HappyDane · 21/10/2024 08:02

True - I wouldn't do that either unless I really had to!

supercalifragilistic123 · 21/10/2024 08:02

I agree they're too expensive now. It was a nice treat. I just don't bother anymore.
Thankfully I don't have an official machine, just a milk frother that does the job.

I use Whittard powder in mine, comes out really nicely.

I get my chocolate from pendragon drinks, their chilli one is lovely!

Writerscompanion · 21/10/2024 08:06

Also - the M&S ones - if you have no chocolate in the house, you can eat a teaspoon of the milk chocolate one...so I heard Grin

HappyDane · 21/10/2024 08:08

Yeah we use good quality creamy powders - it's not quite the same but it's pretty close.

Worriedaboutdoggo · 21/10/2024 08:11

After reading the calorie content of the Hotel Chocolate sachets and nearly having a heart attack, I now use Cadburys highlights!

HappyDane · 21/10/2024 08:14

Nah. If I fancy a hot chocolate I want it to be a good one.
