Think it's 'The man who made husbands jealous'

Just read rivals - its not the whole book in the tv adaptation - it seems there are plans for a second series - please god!

MiscellaneousSupportHuman · 20/10/2024 17:24

I haven't seen the adaptation (yet), but from what you say it sounds as if they haven't gone to the end of the story as published in the novel.

Rivals is essentially free-standing, although some characters were in the earlier book Rivals, and several go on to be in the later books.

You'd need to read Rivals, since they have not filmed the whole story.

Warning though, the book does not include certain events from the last episode in particular.

You should read Riders for Rupert's backstory.

The following books have different characters at their heart. Rupert is more of a bit-player in some of them.

Had the same issue! Binged it this weekend and want to know how it continues as I've never read any of the books. I've jumped into the audiobook on Spotify at chapter 33 which more or less works as it starts with the franchise meeting and continues with the slightly different plot of the cliffhanger from tv version.

Princessbananahamock · 20/10/2024 20:38

Ok looks like I’m going on amazon books then. I wonder if there’s an Audio version that could be good .

I’m so hooked I have never ever read jlly coooers books, omg it’s the bridgeton books series all over again. I get hooked on one season and buy all the books because I’ve missed out on a good read, personally I see an adaptation and think I bet the books are brill. They are! Ffs 🤦‍♀️

Defo David tennent isn’t dead (lord b) just knocked out. God he is such a misogynistic prick. I remember those days the eighties, men were utter cunts.
However, I love it !!Nothing like a bit of retro

Polo is techincally the next bit although the main story isn't based around RCB - it is my favourite of this series though.

Catsinaflat · 26/10/2024 14:33

Rivals on tv isn't exactly the same as Rivals the book. They have picked parts of the book but missed out loads! Rather than moving on to another book just read Rivals. I have enjoyed the series but keep getting annoyed at the timeline and important bits missed out.
The first book - Riders- is about Rupert and includes his riding career and marriage. It is very much a book of its time so some of the underage sex and other goings on will come as a shock.
I have read all of the Rutshire books several times and love them!

Catsinaflat · 26/10/2024 14:35

Also YES Polo may be next in the series of books but has little to do with Rivals.
Read Rivals!
