Cooked banana. Raw is fine but cooking it makes the texture and smell unpleasant (to me).

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 20/10/2024 11:52

Banana bread is great though.

Too much of anything very soft, like mashed potato or blancmange, though a small serving of it is alright. For some meals like haggis with mashed carrots & neeps, I make sure there is something crispy such as fried potatoes served with it.
I put rum soaked raisins at the bottom of chocolate mousse, or serve it with biscuits for a different texture.

I don't like any kind of texture, so any sauces are put through the blender.

I also don't like slimy food. Mushrooms, peppers, onions all get blended within an inch of their lives.

Fish terrifes me.

LadyGrey33 · 20/10/2024 12:40

Quiche 🤢

TripleCarber · 20/10/2024 18:33

I also don’t like the texture of biscuit inside of things - like in a twix, rocky road, cheesecake etc. Don’t mind the taste but the texture is so vile Sets my teeth on edge!

Blueberrycreampie · 20/10/2024 19:07

I've just had some mangetout and didn't like the stringy bits. Don't like Mozzarella - horrible texture or spinach, I find it slimy.

the80sweregreat · 20/10/2024 19:19

Green beans are too squeaky for me.
I don't mind runner beans though
I've gone off a lot of fruit and veg during the menopause though , might be a taste thing? I do have to force myself to eat them.

jellybe · 20/10/2024 19:22

Jelly! That cold not fully solid, slippy, slimy texture. Is so gross. So many childhood parties ruined by being presented with jelly and ice cream as if it was an amazing treat 😭

Zelda93 · 20/10/2024 20:06

Cold prawns and mushrooms I cannot chew either.. but love cooked king prawns and I have to dice mushrooms in my bolognaise.. oh and cooked tomato but love them in a salad ..

AffIt · 20/10/2024 20:09

Okra or fish or chicken skin (unless fried or roasted until crispy), so essentially slimy things.

I also find hot poached salmon unbearable, although cold is okay.

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/10/2024 20:13

I've got a few textures I just cannot stand.

  • any lumps at all in things like mashed potato, I cannot swallow it makes me gag.
  • anything viscous/slimy like smoothies with banana in or passion fruit.
  • anything grainy/sandy or bitty like chia seeds, tapioca

I have some sensory issues with clothing too so think it's all linked.

Puttingupscaffolds · 20/10/2024 20:14

Snails.

letshavetea · 20/10/2024 20:17

Jelly - it’s revolting!
Egg white not properly cooked on a supposedly cooked egg - Eugh!
Pasta salad - just awful
Crumbs sprinkled on puddings - ruins it for me!

Lampzade · 20/10/2024 20:17

Tripe… too chewy
Mushrooms

Puttingupscaffolds · 20/10/2024 20:18

Bubble tea. Like frog spawn. Grim.

betterangels · 20/10/2024 20:19

Sqiud - just no. I'm not even trying snails or oysters. Ever.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 20/10/2024 20:20

Porridge and rice pudding. (I don't feel the same about risotto, weirdly.)

ChipsnGraveee · 20/10/2024 20:22

Overnight oats. I really want to like them but I just can’t take the claggy texture.

JC03745 · 20/10/2024 20:22

Generally nothing bothers me!
But I can't stand the cold fat of pork pies and sausage rolls on the roof of your mouth. Hot sausage rolls are fine.

minisomum · 20/10/2024 20:22

TyneTeas · 20/10/2024 11:04

Lentils and beans

This. 100 times over.

MaybeItsBecauseImALodoner · 20/10/2024 20:24

Liver and kidneys both gross

Any sandwich where the filling is too wet and makes bread soggy

Baked beans that all too wet.. boiling hot and stodgy I love them.

Sultanas, I don't know why but the smell and texture make me sick, starred in childhood.

mamaduckbone · 20/10/2024 20:24

I'm not great with slimy vegetables like aubergine and courgette. Ratatouille 🤢
It's fine if they're very finely chopped or griddled so they still have some bite.
Also rubbery / slimy seafood.

Els1e · 20/10/2024 20:25

banana. Don't mind the taste, just dislike the texture.

aSpanielintheworks · 20/10/2024 20:25

Bananas and mash both make me gag.
