Hello. Ive got an awful cold, struggling to breathe due to all the snot in my head. No prospect of sleep feeling like this. And now just to add a cherry on the cake Im feeling horribly anxious too. Please if you are able to chat to me about anything. What have you been up to today?
Ive been doing easy crosswords and reading magazines - my brain cant cope with anything more complicated. We've had three particularly beautiful Autumnal days too and Ive missed all of it due to feeling so crummy.

Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish.

I'm awake because I'm at work. It's been a lovely day today.

ParentToAngelsAndOneOnTheWay · 20/10/2024 01:56

Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell. I'm up a lot of the night weeing due to the third trimester lol so I'm awake and able to chat

buffyfaithspike · 20/10/2024 01:58

The cat thinks this is great as I've got the heating on 20c and a heated throw on!

madaboutpurple · 20/10/2024 01:59

Hi, sorry to hear you are not well. Have you got any Lemsips as that might help .I have had a quiet day as I had the flu in the week. Just went out for some shopping and newspapers and Private Eye.

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 20/10/2024 02:01

Cheers all
@ParentToAngelsAndOneOnTheWay third trimester weeing....... such fun! Actually I dont remember if I had that issue with mine. They are grown and flown now, so long ago I dont remember. I hope all goes well with the birth of your little one. Not much longer now.

If you are badly blocked up try steaming your face over a bowl or sinkful of hot but not boiling water, with a towel over your entire head and the bowl too.
if you have Vicks gel you could add some if that too. Breathe in deeply.
When I've got a cold I do that for five to ten minutes before bed and find it very therapeutic, it clears the head and helps you sleep.

Yellowshirt · 20/10/2024 02:02

I'm a wake. Chilling with a cup of tea before bed.

Thank you, I'm due Dec 5th so all being well this will be my first Christmas as a parent. Just curious for when my baby is older what Christmas traditions did you have with your kids

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 20/10/2024 02:04

@madaboutpurple Im on max strength beechams so cant take anything else. Waiting for them to kick in and help (they did last night) but not sure they will tonight as I feel annoyingly worse.

Private Eye - I havent read a regular copy of that in such a long time. I think I got the annual a few years ago but embarrassingly I cant remember if Ive still got it. Ian Hislop is one of my heros. Hes so spot on.

Ooooh Christmas traditions now theres a fun topic. When mine were toddlers/preschoolers we didnt bother with a Christmas tree - I hung the decorations from hooks and ribbon across the walls/ceiling. That way they could see them but not be constantly (kitten style!) pulling them down. We now have those same decorations and hang them on "light tree" thing (looks like a tree without leaves) that lives in the lounge all year round
I sung to mine endlessly when they were little - Christmas traditional tunes in particular..... they'd ask for them all year round lol - which means they now like me know all/most of the words to Hark the herald angels sing, Away in a manger, Silent night etc.
What else? Um.........every Christmas for at least 7 in a row I read to them the lion Christmas storyteller book (Bob Hartman). One/two each night through December.

All of those traditions are so cute. I've already starting playing Christmas music to my bump he/she kicks like mad listening to Mariah lol. Do you remember any of yours responding to music in the womb

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 20/10/2024 02:16

Not music no........ but one did kick like a champion footballer but only on one side - and after they were born my goodness did that side of me hurt!

I had a batholin cyst burst on a long haul flight once. The pure bliss relief made me realise how much pain and pressure I had tolerated. I needed antibiotics but not surgery, poor you, I hope you at least had the bliss moment x
