Weirdest reason you’ve finished with someone

So I promise I don’t exclusively date weirdos! But these stick out in my mind…

This is going back a good few years now, but I dated someone who couldn’t cope with me wearing a coat. Every time we went out it was, “So you’ve brought your coat again have you? We’ve got to lug that thing about with us all night, have we?” As if it was Princess Diana’s bloody bridal train. Once he was virtually begging me to wear “one of his big jumpers” instead. I kept asking why he had such a problem with me carrying a coat and he said, “You look really awkward!” What’s awkward about a coat?!

Another one didn’t understand microwaves. Or, more accurately, why you would own one. I’d been for dinner at his place when the phone rang and it turned out to be urgent. He came back and apologised for keeping me waiting for dinner; I said “No problem; we can just stick it in the microwave”. He looked utterly bewildered and kept repeating “Microwave?”, as if he’d never heard of the concept.

Okay, I thought, he hasn’t got one - but he just seemed completely confused at the idea anyone would. He was saying, “But what would I use it for?”, as if I’d suggested he should buy a unicorn. I said, “Well, reheating food! And things like scrambled egg, baked beans…” He just looked at me in total confusion, saying, “But I’d use a pan. I’d warm the food in the oven. Why would I have a microwave?” It was just too weird. I couldn’t ever feel aroused by him again.

Mine is that he would only eat certain foods, not fruit and most definitely not vegetables. It was like going out with a 4 year old. Ick.

Alex Drake · 21/10/2024 02:12

He walked/bounced on his toes.
Had never really 'walked' anywhere with him in the few weeks that we dated but when I did..no going back.

This is awful really but he couldn’t read. Not one word. He had a job (manual) and also he wore y fronts because his mum bought them (she also left a folded blanket neatly on the passenger seat of a car).

the reason he never read (I would have loved to have taught him) was his parents let him leave school young to work.

What? At like 4??

my uncle (married one of my Dads sisters) doesn't read. He grew up on a farm & preferred staying home & shadowing his Dad over going to school & they let him!

@SlovenlyOldSlut it was for several reasons (I fancied his mate more than him) but the thing that really did it was his nose & hankie antics. He'd carry a well used hankie (bleurgh) and sort of pull it from diagonal corners then wipe his nose the length of it 🤢🤮.

Icepinkeskimo · 21/10/2024 02:28

He had fingers like big pork sausages and he bit his nails.

I remember thinking there’s no way those hands are coming near me.

My Dad couldn't read or write, was a labourer when my mum met him. My mum encouraged him to adult learning classes and he did great. He ended up working in the stores ordering stock etc and a wizz on the computer. Unbelievable that a kid could go the entire school process and not be picked up on the basics!

Yeah it is, isn't it.

my Auntbtried, each of their children tried, but to no avail. He tried various lessons/tutors and finally 'clicked' with one woman & learnt a bit. But not enough to either read for pleasure or a newspaper article, but just enough to not feel completely blind sided at say a train station or whatever.

He's not stupid & retains a lot of information through things he's heard/watched & I love him to bits!!

Enoughwiththisshit · 21/10/2024 03:53

I took against the sight of the back of his head. Don't ask me why - I've no idea. 🤷🏻‍♀️

wendywoopywoo222 · 21/10/2024 04:00

Couldn't see a guy again after he showered and used talcum powder.

His naked talcum
Powder covered body made me want to heave.

StarlightLady · 21/10/2024 04:58

He started sulking because l went topless on the beach on our first trip away together.

Toe walkers are a no for me too 🤢

Our first time DTD, much dry/boring thrusting, then out of no where, he got off the bed, knelt on his knees - grabbed some dirty balled up socks from the floor and wanked into them. All while making eye contact and grunting like it was an incredibly sexy thing for me to witness.

When gently questioned afterwards he admitted he thought it was something he thought I’d enjoy as he ex GF always said she loved it…

Omg 😂

GiddyRobin · 22/10/2024 22:36

Another one who dumped a bloke because he wouldn't eat his vegetables. He also ate a roast dinner and didn't have any gravy, that was the final straw. Literally just roasties and meat. 🤢

Another chap walked around Manchester Christmas Markets with me, doing absolutely nothing but bitching and whining that he hated Christmas. On our third date. I called my mate and met up with her, left him glowering into his mulled wine ("it tastes like cinnamon. I hate cinnamon!").

Armychefbethebest · 22/10/2024 22:48

I have 2 , the first I'd been seeing a few months he was a couple of years younger and needed a trim down below after several hints I saw him one day when he proudly said , hey I've done this for you' dropped his pants to show me a bald square around his knob, with the bush still there haha poor lad I just lost the urge after that.
The second I had a bit of a casual thing and we had done the deed, a few days later he messaged and asked if I could order him a pizza till his universal credit came through again the desire ended then and there and I could see anything sexy again he is fondly known as pimping for pizza 🍕

twentysevendresses · 22/10/2024 23:05

Three reasons...same guy:

  1. He ate like a fussy toddler! No vegetables or salad at all.
  1. Did this weird, lizard-like poking out thing with his tongue...constantly! Very disconcerting 😧
  1. Ultimate break-up reason...every few minutes he would stick his finger inside his ear, poke around...then SNIFF his fingers! Absolutely VILE 😱🤢

He was 60.

ARichtGoodDram · 22/10/2024 23:13

He put my ketchup in the fridge.

We'd lived together previously and split up because of his lack of manners and respect. After a lengthy break he persuaded me to have another try.

I came home from work after a 14 hour shift and was very much looking forward to covering the chips I'd bought in ketchup and couldn't find it in my cupboard.

Not only was the bottle I'd kindly bought for him in the fridge (he was adamant it had to be kept in the fridge), but the bottle I'd very clearly told him was mine, and therefore should be in the cupboard, was in the fridge.

I knew then and there that if that was him, on his best behaviour, still doing something he knew I hated - in my home - then there was no hope that he'd changed at all.

Nigh on 20 years later he still tells people I dumped solely because he accidentally put the ketchup in the fridge.

Usnone · 22/10/2024 23:55

Stole a college collection for a party. Said he'd been burgled. I did not believe him.

But it does have to be kept in the fridge doesn't it? I keep mine in the cupboard because I'm a lazy heathen who can't walk to the fridge when I've made food but I don't think that's where it's supposed to be!

According to Heinz, yes.

"There was only ever one correct answer, and we're happy to share with Heinz Tomato Ketchup lovers that our ketchup has to be in the fridge," Olivia Lennon, at Heinz Tomato, told Daily Mail.

Apparently, it is shelf stable due to the acidity, but they 'recommend' that it's stored in the fridge.

(Kinda with him on this one)

His ex was definitely just bored of the thrusting and wanted it to end so encouraged the sock thing 🤣🤣

I don't understand the wank sock thing. How can a sock feel like a vag? Do they fill it with lube or something though?

The ex will have had enough and claimed she found the sock thing sexy because at least she wasn't having to deal with it.

TheGoddessFreyja · 23/10/2024 07:55
  1. he told me he wanted to shave his head - like bic it. I asked him to reconsider in a jokey way (he had a really small head and I knew it wouldn't look great). A few days later I go round his and he'd done it (looked awful, like he was sick 😩) and came up with this elaborate story that he'd raised money for a cancer charity but couldn't tell me what charity it was as he'd forgotten or how much money he'd raised 🙄 just didn't know why a grown had to come out with a story for it 🤣

he also used to try and kiss me without his dentures in 🫠🫠🫠

omg and used to pee into plastic bottles! (he lived in a shared house so said he couldn't make it to the loo) 🤮🤮🤮

  1. lovely lovely bloke but he had the WORST hygiene 😩 smelt of BO most of the time unless i told him to take a shower

and he didn't eat any veggies or fruit! just chicken and chips.

TheGoddessFreyja · 23/10/2024 07:57

that was 2 people by the way
one: baldy pee bottle
two: chicken and chips

Oh ... Probably the weirdest reason, definitely not the weirdest man! We were still at school, had had a simmering crush on each other for a while. Went to a disco, as they were still called in them days, got to the slow dance ... and he had no smell. I know, right? Even I couldn't explain what I meant! It wasn't that he didn't smell of toiletries or cologne, he didn't smell of anything. My teenage instincts felt like they were dancing with an empty space.

I made some ridiculous excuse, obvs. You can't dump your new boyfriend for smelling like the vast voids of the universe 😳

Maybe he was a ghost?

terracottafarm · 23/10/2024 08:16

My ex from a long time ago has this hippie vibe and one day, he couldn't find a belt, so he substituted a belt for a shoe lace to tighten his jeans. I dumped him then and there. It made me realise he was a complete wet wipe

BitOutOfPractice · 23/10/2024 08:19

How did you even get that far without knowing he supported the wrong team? Schoolgirl error!

mine: he dripped sweat in my eye during sex
