I have my great grandmother's butter knife
She died when I was 10

Bellarose53 · 31/07/2025 15:37

Quite a bit. Come from a family of hoarders 😆

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 31/07/2025 16:32

A small table on wheels that my dad made. My family’s photo album - the intention is that I photograph all the pictures then upload them to a one drive account for the whole family. I’ve also got the carving dish that my parents got as a wedding present, and was used for carving the Sunday joint all through my childhood.

My childhood Teddy bear is 60 and he had some surgery at a teddy bear hospital in Dorset a while back and looks lovely now.

Certainly looks better than his owner does. )

Iloveeverycat · 31/07/2025 16:57

I still have my sindy doll from the 60s.
Faraway tree and wishing chair books.

Bignanna · 31/07/2025 16:58

A table my carpenter father made. Knitted toys my mother made.

Spidey66 · 31/07/2025 17:07

An old cookery book.
a hairbrush/hand mirror/clothes brush dressing table set which belonged to my mum.
my mums engagement ring
a couple of school things (photos etc)
a doll I got given when my sister was born.

My childhood teddy. He has Velcro paws so can be stuck to a jumper, thought that was amazing when I was a child. I have a few books too. We have my DH’s mum’s handwritten recipe book, she ran a really successful restaurant back in the day. Many of the recipes are desserts/cakes.

Looking round mum’s house this week and chatting to my db, he said he wasn’t looking forward to the house clearance. She did us a huge favour downsizing a few years ago, leaving behind a lot for a house clearance to remove, but her little house is still crammed, lots of random useless gifts from mates who went to far flung places, dozens of framed photos, loads of cooking utensils that she never uses because she no longer cooks.

When we did our school play, when I was fifteen, I nicked an old book that I found in the basement under the stage, an old leather bound photo album with original photos in it dating back from the 1860s onwards. I think it had been used as a prop. I also have an 1853 copy of The Canterbury Tales from a secondhand bookshop that I bought some time in my teens.

Old single bed cotton Paddington duvet covers. Parents gave them away to friends kids who were younger - who then gave them back to me when I had DC 💛

000EverybodyLovesTheSunshine000 · 31/07/2025 17:33

Cookery books Mum
has handed down

Joanie34 · 31/07/2025 17:34

Lego

000EverybodyLovesTheSunshine000 · 31/07/2025 17:34

Old Le Crusets, bowls, Mum finds too heavy now.

MysteriousUsername · 31/07/2025 17:39

My teddy bear that I got given when I was a day old. Some Care Bears. A hedgehog Wade Whimsy, a red vase and a casserole dish with flowers on that were my mums.

Hadalifeonce · 31/07/2025 17:41

Some crockery and glasses. Plus my parents (ashes if that counts?)

Steelworks · 31/07/2025 17:43

Childhood books. However, parents are still alive, so all my stuff is still there.

UnctuousUnicorns · 31/07/2025 18:02

There were also some little ceramic frogs and toads that I'd collected in my teens, but I think DC2 took them on leaving home.

Not childhood but we still use the ironing board that I bought when starting uni in 1989.

Paintings,
A hand bell
Bottles of Holy Water
Tumble dryer still going strong it must be from the late 70s
Bed sheets, beautiful and thick no idea of age
Furniture and a bible box
Mums wedding dress and our christening gown
Jewellery
Various ornaments but mainly boxed up
Baking stuff ..moulds etc
Books and records

Plants. Now grown from cuttings from parents gardens

I’d beginning to realise there’s not a lot of stuff we’ve bought ourselves 🤣

Some cutlery which I grew up with and some silver cutlery which must be around 80-100 years now.

A couple of small wine glasses.

A silver tea set

A small wooden dog figurine

mindutopia · 31/07/2025 18:18

Lots of stuff, but I have a turtle garden ornament that was in my garden growing up. His name is Humphrey.

PiggieWig · 31/07/2025 18:22

Nothing from my childhood home but my gran’s vase and a side table and lamp from her house that my dad made in woodwork at school

utterflapdoodle · 31/07/2025 18:26

A Kenwood mixer and a Pfaff sewing machine. Both a shade over 60 years old and both still in perfect working condition!

CoodleMoodle · 31/07/2025 18:33

Loads. DM died last year and as an only child I ended up with most of the stuff. We got rid of so much but I'm still sorting through it... She was a bit of a hoarder.

We do have my childhood tumble dryer, which DM gave me when DD was little. It's the same age as me (36) - she got it when I was born and it's still going strong.
