Following on from the 1950s thread which has been the most lovely read as that was the decade my parents grew up im wondering if we could have a 1970s one? This is the decade my parents met and got married and I would love a insight to the way people were thinking.

We had an amazing holiday three weeks ago - a fortnight in Marbella - our first time abroad, it really was the holiday of a lifetime.

I've been dying to get the photos back and was even planning to get some of them put onto slides so I can invite the neighbours round to see them.

They arrived this morning and they're all white and blotchy, you can't see a thing 😪 Trueprint put a note in saying it looks as though the film was accidentally exposed. I'm damn sure I put it into the camera properly and was careful when I took it out. AIBU to sue them for the cost of my holiday???

What do you think happened with Lord Lucan? I think his wife is no better than she ought to be! Apparently her father is a publican.

My dc has been caned three times this week for not having the correct uniform. He doesn’t want to go to school today. I don’t get my family allowance until Thursday next week. Should I keep him off school until then? He’ll probably just bunk anyway, not that anyone would notice. He’s a smart lad but in the remedial class with his dyslexia and all they seem to do is arithmetic, reading and colouring in. I can’t wait til he’s 15 and can leave.

This is true, was in hospital tonsillectomy, had a period, asked my dad to get me stick on sanitary towels as hospital provision involved a gauze belt thingy.

Dad went yo local shop and was asked what size he wanted, he answered i do not know as i have never had a period before.

then they put the product in a paper bag even though everyone behind him knew what he bought.

Oh my goodness this took me back. My mum made so many clothkits clothes for me. I remember the smell and texture and colours of their soft cord skirts and dresses, all these years later.

What's a better option for a special dessert - Arctic roll or a block of Neapolitan ice cream? Tin of fruit with either, obviously.
