Uber Driver Rude Question

So I had to take our 10 month old daughter to A and E tonight as she was poorly.

On the way back I started chatting to the Uber driver.

He asked me if my daughter was okay and then he started talking about his own children. He told me had 4 children.

He then asked me if my daughter was our 1st child and I said she's our 3rd child.

He then asked me: "Are they all from the same daddy?"

I responded "uhm,yes..."

He said: "Hehe, okay, because some English have different fathers".

I'm not English, I speak with a foreign accent, but needless to say I gave him a 1 star review.

How unprofessional and I'm sure he wouldn't have asked a man if his children were all from the same mother.

Was he English?

If not, it sounds as though he was testing to see if you're as racist/xenophobic as he probably is.

Was the uber driver also not English?

I can't imagine an English taxi driver saying something so presumptuous to be honest.

No need for the 1 star review. It’s a hard job and the reviews matter.

I don’t disagree that it’s a cheeky question but I wouldn’t take major offence. We had our eldest child as teenagers and then there’s a large gap before we had the others. Lots of people outright ask if the eldest is from a prep relationship and others just assume.
So what if they weren’t anyway.

Nah that's just coz he couldn't be arsed to scroll through all the options so just did the first.

Anyway, he wasn't English then which answered my question.

Then it sounds to me as though he was testing to see if you'd join in with his judgement of 'some English' women.

I did the same when a Romanian Uber driver drove me through Whitechapel and started slagging off 'All these Muslims'.

how can you see that he is from Afghanistan on the Uber app? It’s not like the taxi came straight from there. Genuinely curious.
I think it’s a deliberate dig from him. And agree that he wouldn’t ask a man this.

This isn't anything to lose sleep over. Just another sexist / racist human being with poor judgement.

When you book an Uber, it automatically gives you the driver's bio.

When you click on his profile, it tells you which languages he speaks and where he is from

Which earned him the 1 star review.

Wow! I don’t use Uber so didn’t know that.
