Mobile phone recommendations

I'm looking for a new phone. I'm on a SIM only deal and intend to stay on it so I'm looking for a decent phone to buy.

It must be Android not iPhone and I don't like Samsung phones.

It needs to have a good camera and plenty of memory. Any recommendations please?

Nokia

They do a range priced from £ to ££££. I find them to be fantastic to use and have a great camera> I have a pink G42, the battery lasts for longer than my work iPhone.

Budget?

Goatblu · 17/10/2024 18:05

Apologies, budget around £400. I don't need one that performs miracles as it's just for web browsing, emails, a few apps and photos.

I've had Sony Xperia for years and I really like them but the camera on my current one isn't brilliant.

Moto phones are really good! You should be able to get one well under budget.

Google pixels have decent cameras and no bloat ware. They also support with updates for a long time reducing built in obsolescence. If you hang on a bit you should be able to get an 8a around your budget (they're full price at the moment)

I have a 6a and a 4a as a second phone and DH has the 7.

I hadn't thought about Moto or Nokia. Husband has a Pixel he's happy with but it's too expensive for me.

I’ve had a Nothing 2a phone for a couple of months and love it - it takes great photos, great battery life and I love the light up display on the back. I have it in white but the black looks good too. Would recommend! Cost £350ish sim only.

Goatblu · 17/10/2024 20:25

I've never heard of that one @NormaSnickers. Off to Google.

At a lower price point, DS1 recently bought this one. As a bonus, the storage is expandable.

I can see that I'm totally out of my depth with this. I appreciate the recommendations as I haven't got a clue what I'm looking for apart from something quick, great camera and plenty of storage.

I'd be a salesman's dream because it's from the ones you've recommended that are decent, I don't necessarily have to spend £££.

the camera on Motorola was awful. Was fine otherwise but I really wanted to be able to take nice pics.

I have apple se which has a good camera (not good night shots though) but battery life not great and after 18 years I seem to have to recharge it a lot. I like apple but as their battery life isn’t good, I’m thinking of getting a contract phone deal next time round as after 2 years I reckon it’ll be pretty rubbish. At least with contract you get upgrade . I’d get cheapest apple I can get as I think for my needs I don’t need the latest or recent models . My SE (2022 model)was under £400

Shhhthedogssleeping · 17/10/2024 22:04

18 months not years 🫣

Nemasu · 17/10/2024 22:06

I also love my pixel phone. You don't need the latest model for it to still be a fab phone with an amazing camera. It's very user friendly. I really rate them.

Nemasu · 17/10/2024 22:12

You can get a new Google pixel 8 with. 125g storage for £450, or a refurbished one for less than £400. This would be an ideal phone for you, OP.

Augarden · 17/10/2024 22:16

Yes I also recommend a Google Pixel, really nice to use and good camera.

Goatblu · 17/10/2024 23:08

I'll have a look tomorrow for a Pixel I think. It doesn't have to be the latest or best one, just needs a decent camera. Thank you.
