Alien,Zenomorph,Bioweapon.

I know it should be in Films but I have a question.
We're watching the Alien films and are now on Alien 3.
Why did The Company need a bio weapon? Have I missed the details in the later films or the new franchise?

The Xenomorph was engineered by an alien super species. Weyland-Yutani finds it and thinks it might be lucrative/powerful/help humanity dominate the galaxy so they send out missions to acquire it.
