Suddenly feel really ill

I was perfectly fine a couple of hours ago. Was chatting on here. Joking with ds a bit. As soon as I left my house for school run I walked several houses up the road abd suddenly felt ill , breathless and like my legs were going to give way. It suddenly hit me. Then I was ok on the bus . Got off and a few min walk. Felt ill again . And chucked up.

My kids come out at 3.10. So at 2.35 I rang the school to say I needed to pick them up early and I would be about 10 mins. I explained I was ill and needed to get them early so i can get a cab/uber home. But they never actually let them out till 3pm so i was waiting for 15 mins. It really pissed me of because it's hard to get cabs once schools come out . The waits are longer etc. So then I spent another 20 min waiting for a cab
Whilst feeling really ill .

Anyway just a rant really. And I don't get why it hit me so suddenly

whenever I have had flu it has hit me like that

Ohfuckrucksack · 16/10/2024 16:54

That's simply how some illnesses work - some symptoms come on gradually and others more quickly, often with things like D&V, the first sign is sudden vomiting.

Hope you can park kids in front of telly and get some rest or support.

Getitdone247 · 16/10/2024 17:12

Dd was ill last week. So maybe it's been passed on. Hoping it passes over night.

Flu has hit me like that before. There are so many nasty viruses going around. I hope you feel better soon.

Yesterday I went shopping with my friend . She suddenly said she didn’t feel well so we went to a cafe but that didn’t help so she went home . Last night she sent a message to say she has Covid .

I might get a test just to see

Poor you. It probably is cold or flu. Or you could've been a bit run down? Have you been sleeping OK? If you're stressed or not sleeping/eating well sometimes you can suddenly come over really queasy.

If you feel like you may be sick, place your finger horizontally between your top lip and nose and press firmly. Sometimes you need to do it for a couple of minutes, but it really helps short term nausea.

ihaveliterallynoidea · 16/10/2024 18:14

That's me after every Covid jab - sudden temperature, weakness, throwing up and then fine next day.

minipie · 16/10/2024 18:19

I’ve got a horrible bug at the moment. Like a cold but with added sweatiness, dizziness and feeling knackered. But it’s not flu as I can still operate, just feel shite.

Hopefully yours is “just” this bug and not flu OP.

@Getitdone247 Oh that’s horrid. Especially when you are forced to carry on with normal things like the school run when all you probably wanted to do is curl up in bed!

I’m on day 3 of a diarrhea bug (along with nausea). It’s been awful. Bugs are just nasty.

Get an early night and hope you feel better soon!

I didn't take the kids to school today . I didn't even wake till 10am which is unusual for me.

3 days seems a long time for a diarrhoea bug. I hope it's not to much longer and your better soon.

We had the same recently, one minute absolutely fine then checking our guts up the next. It was grim. I had a temperature too and really achy. It lasted 5 days. Covid was negative but they're are really old tests so wouldn't be surprised if it was. Hope you feel better soon .

Same here! For the second day in a row.

I am feeling better today though. Hopefully you will today or tomorrow.

eurochick · 17/10/2024 16:00

Noro and flu have taken me down very rapidly like that.

ForPearlViper · 17/10/2024 16:04

It's one of the ways you can identify proper flu rather than a bad cold. It hits you like a train.

I was feeling full of beans one day as I drove over Pennines on the M62. Suddenly, I gradually got hotter and hotter and hotter. Then it flipped and I got colder and colder and colder. I was aiming to get some shopping on the way home but had to give up halfway round. Cue a week in bed. It was so bad my Mum came to stay and she is one of the least sypathetic people on the planet on these things so I knew I was 'proper poorly'.

Getitdone247 · 17/10/2024 16:14

Definitely not flu . I actually feel better compared to yesterday. So probably a 24hr thing

I woke up on Wednesday morning with a stinker of a head cold, cough and slight sore throat. I gargled with Oraldene, and that took it off, but my legs felt like lead.
I had to call in at my friends house, but all of I sudden I felt terrible, dizzy blurred vision and clammy. I thought I was going to faint.
I sat and did the head between my knees bit, had a drink of water and I felt a lot better.
It came on so quick, so now I'm just sat resting and feeling like a wet lettuce with zero energy, hope it goes as fast as it came!

ForPearlViper · 17/10/2024 16:35

That's good. Pride yourself on a good immune system!
