Change (money)

After reading another thread about the laundrette. How do you get change for the laundrette. Shops refuse to give me any and so do local banks I don't bank with. My bank is 20 miles away as I'm rural and even they moan about it.
What do I do?

Don't most let you use card now?

If you have an arcade nearby, often they have machines you can tap contactless and get a load of pound coins or 10ps - I do this every so often to keep coins around in the car.

Our local Post Office has always been really good about changing money for us.

I have resorted to withdrawing £10 via cashback, buying a carrier bag (cheapest thing in shop), getting change, then going round again with the £5 note I got in my change and buying another carrier bag. We need £1 coins for school and there is no other way of getting them. Lots of the primary school parents do this to get £1 coins, unless they can travel to a bank or post office.
