How often do you visit your overseas child(ren)?

Just asking for a friend.

Her DM is of retirement age, healthy, no work commitments, no financial difficulties. Essentially nothing stopping her from visiting her daughter in Canada.

However she does not. No real reason given - she just doesn’t mention visiting, ever. Last time she saw her daughter was 18 months ago and her daughter won’t be able to fly to England to see her mum for at least another year (due to genuine difficulties).

Would you leave it that long if you had the health and money to go see your daughter?

I would see it as daughter's choice to move away so her responsibility to visit.

My youngest son and grandchild live overseas and we go out for an extended holiday every 18 months. Both still working so dependant on annual leave at the moment, but when we're retired it will be a lot more often.
