anyone got this weird virus?

started off with a cold, which went to my chest, followed by antibiotics and a lingering cough. Now it's in my sinuses which are stinging and tinnitus in my left ear which makes me feel quite spinny and dizzy. Quite nauseous too. Anyone else have this? I haven't gone to work today, which I feel guilty about, but am feeling so crap.

Sounds really horrible; anything to do with sinuses, ears, dizziness and nausea.

Maybe asking doc if it's okay to take an OTC anti-nausea tab would help temporarily with dizziness/nausea.

Lingering cough suggests you haven't seen your doc lately? Maybe time to schedule another appt?

They may just say you have to give it time, but maybe something they can prescribe or do for you to alleviate the nasty symptoms.

Hope you feel better soon OP.

redish · 14/10/2024 13:12

thank you. I went to the doctors two weeks ago and got antibiotics which seemed to help with the rattly chest, but it's now been followed by dizziness/vertigo type symptoms. Horrid!

my BF has had something for over 2 weeks now - started as a snotty cold, then it was his sinuses, trip to the Dr's yielded a steroid inhaler, then a few days later antibiotics, it's more in the top of his chest rather than lungs now and the cold weather isn't helping his breathing! It feels like it's shifting rather than clearing.

Covid. Stay home until you feel better to avoid spreading it. Hope you get well soon!

redish · 14/10/2024 13:24

originally thought I'd caught it from dh who had a cold a few weeks ago. He tested negative. Maybe I've caught this from somewhere else then? I haven't done a test yet, might get him to pick some up on his way back.

Yes - I've had it for over a week now. It started in my sinuses and then turned into a heavy cold with fatigue and muscle aches.

I thought it might be Covid but the LFTs kept coming back as negative.

FiveTreeHill · 14/10/2024 13:32

Yes I've had this. Shitty virus with horrible vertigo and sinus symptoms. Lots of people at work similar

I took Cinnarizine with dimenhydrinate which I bought from a pharmacy abroad but you should be able to buy here from a pharmacy which helped with the vertigo. You can definitely buy cinnarizine otc which should help

MiddleAgedDread · 14/10/2024 13:33

covid LFT also negative here! Although I do wonder if the older tests are picking up the new strains?

They don't always pick up the newer strains. I put any weird virus down to COVID these days!

I know four people with covid at the moment. Id double check

I have most of these symptoms and have again tested negative for Covid. Have never had Covid!

Other viruses do exist.

anotherworriedmum123 · 14/10/2024 13:39

Yes I’ve had it since the end of august!!!

AutumnLeaves1990 · 14/10/2024 14:09

Yes had it a week now. Started off that I couldn't get warm, then feeling shivery and fluey for a couple of days. Just have this annoying phlemy cough.

Songlines · 14/10/2024 14:12

I've had this and tested positive for Covid on both new and old tests. It took 10 days to test negative but I still feel pretty rough.

That's what I'm worried about! Despite having five negative tests.

Have had Long Covid since spring 2020 and every further infection impacts badly on my symptoms.

Long Covid really is awful. My sister has it and she's a shell of who she uses to be! 💐💐💐

ItsKaos · 14/10/2024 14:33

Thanks @horseHorseHorse. Your poor sister - yes it really is dreadful. I used to be able to do a 5k run, went to the gym every weekday. Now I barely leave the house.

She's the same - used to event at a decent level and now just walking to the shop leaves her exhausted. I'm so sorry you're going through that too!

Blackberriesandcobwebs · 14/10/2024 14:52

I have this - again! I'm convinced it's covid contracted when I was using the Tube last week. I haven't tested positive yet but I'm wrapped up indoors with fluids and paracetamol. I feel as rough as a badgers bum! 🤒

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/10/2024 14:59

LFTs always had a fairly high false negative rate. If you get a positive test it’s almost certainly covid but a negative test doesn’t mean it isn’t.

There is a lot of covid about at the moment.

redish · 14/10/2024 15:44

just took a test and it's negative, but doesn't change the fact I feel
horrible. I'm self employed so feel I have to return to work tomorrow, but just don't think I'll be up to it.

renomeno · 14/10/2024 19:07

Yes, tested negative on all the tests we did though. Mine went to my chest, husband his sinuses... nearly 3wks in and only just starting to feel better, it's horrible whatever it is!

bittertwisted · 15/10/2024 09:00

I have this sinus thing currently, it's so painful. Have become quite addicted to nasal rinses for the temporary relief

Had Covid in July, this definitely isn't Covid for me this time
