How long is child's dla renewal taking? Sons is due to end 11th November, only got forms sent back there on Friday on next day delivery. Forgot all about them. I rang an they said to ring 2 weeks before due to end and they will flag it. Is it likely to be sorted before that? Will the payments stop? Been having mixed answers from people one who's didn't stop until she got a decision just not sure as first time doing a renewal. Just not sure as I will have to let UC kno for careers and disabled child element. Thanks

Hi, I know it's not very helpful but when I renewed dd earlier in the year, they had done renewal week before due to end. If they have told you that they will do it before it should be.

Hey, have you heard anything about your son's renewal. My son's is due to end in 5 weeks time, only sent them back around 2 weeks ago but starting to worry I might have left to close to the end of claim date for them to make a decision in time

I need help please my child's DLA award has been reduced from Higher rate care to Lower rate care and low mobility rate. I have sent so much evidence including CAMHS, SCHOOL REPORT, HOUSING ETC. I raised a concern with the DM who should contact me (I'm trying to avoid going through an MR as long waiting times) how can I prove the supersession isn't legal?

they have a month to do the MR.

If they dont do it in within the month, give them a further month then write to The Tribunal for a direction.

If they then dont do it within the timescale set by The Tribunal then submit your appeal

My sons was due to end tomorrow, I sent mine back around the end of October, it was like 7 weeks before the date it was due to end. They had the decision within 3 weeks of sending it back to them so was extremely quick, they kept ours as it was and decided to award it this time around till he is 16.

Thank you for your reply. That is reassuring. Can I ask what area you are in. I was really scared I hadn’t left long enough

I'm in Kent. I was so worried as well, renewals are usually left quite close to the end of award date, usually a week or two before it. To be honest the renewal 2 years before that I think I sent them back with more time maybe around 12 weeks and they got back to me about that 5 weeks later so they've never left my renewals to the very last minute.

Can I ask those of you who have returned the DLA renewal form/documents by post, did you get any confirmation that it had been recieved, and if so after how long? Thanks

Please could i have some advice of anyone can? So I just completed my sons first DLA renewal. I called up on the 13th Jan to make sure the forms arrived and was told yes they were received on the 3rd of Jan and that a decision had already been made! Great! I was in shock it was so quick and didn't ask if it's been renewed or rates. So, I'm checking my postbox and bank account like a crazy woman and nothing yet. My Q is. If it's been renewed at a higher rate, would the change take effect immediately? Or would it start when the current award ends? If it's been declined, would i still receive his money until the award was due to end? It runs out on the 6th Feb and a payment is due next week. Thanks, I've tried to Google but not getting a straight answer and if I'm honest, I'm worrying it's been declined.

Shellbel10 · 15/01/2025 19:13

Sorry I have no idea. You could always ring and ask what the outcome was

My sons was lowered from HRC to low with no change at all in his medical and care needs so I have now just sent off for a mandatory reconsideration as he has been on HRC since 2023 and had a renewal 2024 stayed the same HRC but his renewal for 2025 has been lowered and all of his care needs have stayed the same I'm fretting so much about this thank you in advance x

Hey,
I put in to renew sons DLA. I have spoke to them on the phone and they have told me a decision was made on the20th. Was due to end on 27th when I recieved 3 weeks money. They won't tell me decision on the phone is the payment a bad sign?
Any advice would be amazing.
