NYT Spelling Bee - why does it randomly end the game?

Does anyone know the rules of the Spelling Bee? I get a few words and then it always just ends on ‘Solid’ and says try again tomorrow. Is it just that it only allows you a taster and you have to subscribe to actually play it? It just seems different from all the other NYT games that let you have a full game each day.

Clearly this isn’t a massively important thing in my life but I have a spare hour with a cup of tea and it is bothering me.😂

It just did this to me. So annoying, I wish I knew why!

If you don’t want to pay, there are a lot of free games elsewhere. As a PP said, Merriam-Webster is great. I love Blossom which is similar to Spelling Bee, but you can only make 12 words so you have to choose the best ones. I’m slightly obsessed with it. I also love Unolingo.

I love it - it’s the reason I subscribe.
it takes me a day (on and off, obvs!) to get to Genius level but it’s a great brain teaser.

Today’s is evil though.

I love Spelling Bee and am crestfallen if I don’t make it to Genius eventually. I’ve never been a Queen Bee, though. 😠

Really? It was one I got Queen Bee on within a few hours of (on and off) playing. Only 24 words. Unless we are talking about different days.

I have a NYT subscription (not just for games), so got the games app free. I mainly do Spelling Bee and Worldle but also sometimes Connections and Strands. There are also crosswords and Soduku. I think I'm missing a few (but don't usually play them).
