Which vitamins do you take?

I find vitamins absolutely bamboozling.

I've started taking high strength vitamin D and C as well as magnesium and B12.

What else do people take? Should I take a multivitamin on top? Would that be overdosing on certain vitamins? If I understand correctly that happens with some but not all vitamins but I'm not sure.

What do people recommend/find they benefit the most from?

I'm a chronic insomniac and find that magnesium really helps my sleep. I takes it as a magnesium/vit D/calcium combined tablet. I also take a 50+ multivitamin. Not sure if that covers everything but it'll do!

B12 injections from the GP as I recently discovered I was low for no particular reason. I’m also low in Vit D and did have a prescription for a high dose but have run out.

Don’t take anything else.

Don’t take any vitamins, I get everything I need from a reasonable vegetarian diet. The vitamin and supplement market is a very profitable one so it’s well advertised but, except in the case of medical need, additional vitamins are usually unnecessary.

I take magnesium and folic acid, usually separate though recently I’ve started taking a supplement with magnesium and B vitamins combined.

Centrum multivit, just in case I’m lacking in anything.

High strength vitamin D as recommended by my GP.

Feroglobin, as recommended by my GP, as I have low iron but can’t tolerate prescribed iron.

A probiotic capsule as I am prone to digestive problems.

I take inexpensive multi-B vitamins last thing at night with a glass of milk - to aid absorption and reduce the chance of peeing it all away immediately.

I drink a lot of tea during the day, and a smallish glass of wine most evenings, and started having symptoms that suggested my Thiamine levels might be a bit low after I had Covid. Was advised that it's better to take multi B than single out one B vitamin.

It seemed to help - who knows really?

Vitamin D (recommended in the UK from Oct to Mar)
Ferroglobin (iron, folic acid, B12) (blood test showed low iron and folic acid)
