New shoes + unexpectedly long walk = a very very large torn blister the entire size of the back of my heel. It has torn and is incredibly sore at the moment and also I'm concerned a large area that is liable for infection if I don't treat it right. What do I do?

Clean and cover it… if the skin is still there don’t remove. A meopore type dressing would do if big enough…

Blister plasters are expensive but work well re. healing and infection prevention. Soaking in warm mildly salty water helps too.

Soak in warm salty water and let the air get to it. Don't wear the shoes again until it's healed then wear them for short periods to wear them in.

Thanks. I've had blisters before but not on this scale and what is essentially now a hole in the back of my foot, it hurts.

I've been to Google, apparently the term for this type of injury is a deroofed blister.
