If you had £7.50 to buy lunch with what would you get?

I’m allowed to get reimbursed for lunch at work as out and about. General rules are no grocery shops, you have to eat in, so no takeaways. I’ve generally had coffee and cake somewhere but I’m going to be huge if I eat cake everyday. I stopped off at KFC today and had a rice box which was quite nice and probably slightly healthier than cake. Are there any decentish meals from fast food places for £7.50 or less?

Subway? I haven't been in ages so not sure how much their subs and salads are now

Habbibu · 10/10/2024 22:45

Pret smoked salmon on Rye roll.

Habbibu · 10/10/2024 22:45

Or one of the Pret bowls

Toastie from a coffee shop ?

Nomorecoconutboosts · 10/10/2024 22:45

McDonald’s grilled chicken wrap.

most coffee shop places do sandwiches or savoury options as well as cake. I have toastie and a coffee sometimes.

any jacket potato places?

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 10/10/2024 22:46

I'd go to McDonald's as you can get a lot for that. Wrap of the meal or they do a nice chicken salad. It's not as good as a rice box but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Alternatively I'd go to a sizzling pub and get a baguette and chips.

I have business "lunches" and Costa and Starbucks are extortionate.

*wrap of the day meal

Nomorecoconutboosts · 10/10/2024 22:47

Greggs (genuine suggestion) - some reasonable sandwiches, fruit pots etc.
small box potato wedges hot.
it’s not all sausage rolls!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 10/10/2024 22:50

Costa toastie. The Christmas ones are out soon and they are delicious.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 10/10/2024 22:51

CBA sandwich from a local place.

CharlotteSometimes1 · 10/10/2024 22:53

Chicken satay salad from Pret

Toddlerteaplease · 10/10/2024 22:54

A ham and emmantal baguette from Waitrose. Delicious!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/10/2024 22:55

I'd have a baked potato or a veggie sausage and mash in spoons (although the second one may be a bit more than £7.50). Or a falafel wrap and chips in an Ember Inn - that's around £7.50. Non-veggie options also available.

SheilaFentiman · 10/10/2024 22:56

Agree with Greggs meal deal - pasta salad etc. Plus you would have a bit left over for an extra drink to takeaway for the afternoon.

Needmorelego · 10/10/2024 23:12

What a strange rule about no grocery shops. So you can't get a meal deal sandwich/wrap?
Anyway.....£7.50 is enough for a medium meal a Maccyds. Maybe a toastie, crisps and drink at Costa. Greggs (if they have sit in) - pizza slice, drink and donut is one of my faves.
(not very healthy though....which is why I'm fat 😂)

TheBelleOfBelfastCity · 10/10/2024 23:12

A chicken Caesar salad from our local deli!

Enko · 10/10/2024 23:14

Leons

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/10/2024 23:14

Maccies wrap of the day, fruit bag and large coffee

ItsTheGAGGGGGGGGG · 10/10/2024 23:15

Well where the hell do you work?! I need that perk, I’d be trying somewhere new everyday🤣

Leons

Was just about to suggest this! Leons is fantastic as far as fast food goes!

Moonshiners · 10/10/2024 23:18

How weird about shops. I usually go to M&S and get two little salad things. Or Leon's.

Ahhhgrophobia · 10/10/2024 23:19

Can you go to the co-op and get something out the fridge isle

BigBurrata · 10/10/2024 23:22

Habbibu · 10/10/2024 22:45

Pret smoked salmon on Rye roll.

Agreed!

RachPelders · 10/10/2024 23:22

A mcdonalds chicken and bacon salad is quite decent. Plus a fruit bag or pineapple stick.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 10/10/2024 22:51

CBA sandwich from a local place.
