Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

Ah,Gertrude! I have to admit that was a smart move.

And a nice riposte from TragicMuse.

That means I can move swiftly to Hyde Park Corner.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 05/02/2025 18:32

Ooh! The pace is quickening. I’ll drop a forward split to

Holland Park

Boredmum24 · 05/02/2025 19:48

A simple Atkins diagonal to farringdon

LlynTegid · 05/02/2025 19:50

A two minute move to Barbican

MyrtleStrumpet · 05/02/2025 20:41

Heathrow Terminal 5

That is all. Though I may be embarking on another excursion...

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 05/02/2025 22:26

Ah, so the rumours are true then, Myrtle?

Osterley

MyrtleStrumpet · 05/02/2025 22:54

Which ones, Gertrude? 😉

Forgot I wasn't travelling with BA, so I'm circling back to Heathrow Terminal 4.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 05/02/2025 23:24

Well, the only one that’s fit to print involves a clandestine rendezvous with the rugby quarter-back, the principal flautist and some over-ripe avocados in a very secluded chalet near Gstaad. As for the others, modesty forbids.

TragicMuse · 06/02/2025 10:37

Steady on @MyrtleStrumpet. You don't want to get into a Moebius loop. Harder to escape than a Ten-stretch in HMP...

Covent Garden. Sometimes the air still resonates with apple and cabbage. Or is that just the ROH drains?...

MyrtleStrumpet · 06/02/2025 10:43

Oh, you mean my brothers and an overenthusiastic demonstration on manufacturing guacamole!

That was a fun evening.

Honestly, Gertrude, sometimes I think you just make these things up!

Thanks for the Mobius strip warning, TragicMuse, I am safely airborne but suggest a move to Westminster, as I saw Parliament from my window seat.

I must say the new government is a tad serious compared to the high jinks of the previous 14 years. It's very difficult to have any fun there these days

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 06/02/2025 11:18

Brothers? Guacamole? I think it’s you who’s making things up, Myrtle.

I've heard from a reliable source that there’s now an All Party Parliamentary Group on the game of games. It doesn’t meet in Parliament, but instead in a dimly lit room above a chip shop on the edge of Epping Forest. Discretion, and all that.

London Bridge

LlynTegid · 08/02/2025 06:52

There is an alleged instance of our now ambassador to the US mistaking mushy peas for guacamole. No recorded instance of him playing the game of games- how could someone so uncouth be asked to represent us?

I'm Mandy, fly me!

London City Airport

I do love the pale turquoise of the DLR! Reminds one of the beautiful seas of Mustique. HRH The Countess loved it there...

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 09/02/2025 20:10

Oh dear. The game seems to be flagging again, so I’m going to try to shake things up.

Totteridge and Whetstone

Arlanymor · 09/02/2025 20:52

Just when I think I am out, you drag me back in @GertrudeJekyllAndHyde!

Here I was, sobbing into my box of mementoes, remembering back to when the Major was young, virile and partial to some semi-melted After Eight Mints on the verandah (only on the second Tuesday of the month)… but you have pulled me away from my whimsy with that - let’s call it what it is - audacious slide to T&W!

I’m drying my tears, pouring myself a medicinal cortado - well I call it a cortado, other people call it a ‘top row of the optics cocktail’ - and will invoke the Waxing Gibbous rule… may as well invoke it, while I can still spell it… and move to…

Island Gardens

The gardens look so beautiful under the waxing gibbous moonlight, from my verandah, without the Major’s raspy hand on my… sob… hand…

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 09/02/2025 21:12

Good to see you again, Arlanymor. You evidently fell prey to the Major’s legendarily suave charms, as so many have done. He may no longer be young, but he remains virile (at least, so he was claiming at the contessa’s most recent schnapps and tiddlywinks party).

Bow Road

TragicMuse · 10/02/2025 22:45

Just dashing to take advantage of the lull in play and spin to Walthamstow.

LlynTegid · 11/02/2025 21:30

Oh dear, incomplete name rule has to be played. Taking us back to Bow Road from whence I move to Stepney Green.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 12/02/2025 23:01

Hmm. Unorthodox but it’s always good to experiment.

Stockwell

TragicMuse · 13/02/2025 16:33

Oh Tarantino! I do hate autocorrect!

Fortunately dear @GertrudeJekyllAndHyde has saved me from nip with that neat and, indeed, most generous, play of Stockwell which reopens my original line.

Walthamstow Queen's Road.

LlynTegid · 14/02/2025 07:03

The Suffragette line rule takes me to Gospel Oak.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 14/02/2025 09:44

Hmm. This is getting messy, but I see an opportunity for a lateral drop to

Kew Gardens

MyrtleStrumpet · 14/02/2025 13:10

I see we're in a tricky spot, though I do like your lateral drop, Gertrude.

Let's see... If I pivot laterally I can get us to Piccadilly Circus.

Yes! And as well all know, if you're at Piccadilly long enough you'll see the whole world go by, so almost any move is possible from here.

😉

LlynTegid · 14/02/2025 15:43

A move west using the closed stations rule, to Down Street

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 14/02/2025 17:33

Thank you, Myrtle, for pulling us away from the abyss. As the weekend approaches, let us head for the hedonistic uplands of
