Although of course MC is a game for all seasons, I do have especially fond memories of an October championships in Wales and extracurricular… fun amid the greenery of a National Trust garden.

If I've missed anyone I do apologise; do round up any players you happen to see or hear of.

And I'll start with a lovely little move that the Reverend taught me.
Finsbury Park

Oh dear, oh dear. Things have become a little, shall we say, tense. In search of peace and tranquility

Notting Hill Gate

TragicMuse · 12/11/2024 22:11

Perhaps it's a confusion of Excellencies...

AgathaMystery · 12/11/2024 23:24

Gosh things are getting heated.

What happens in conclave stays in conclave. I personally cannot understand how anyone left Chamonix alive following the unfortunate raclette incident.

I digress.

Mudchute

MyrtleStrumpet · 13/11/2024 09:06

Green Park.

That is all.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 13/11/2024 16:09

While it's still daylight, let's have some more park life -

Park Royal

DuckonaBike · 13/11/2024 19:20

A “confusion of Excellencies”, Tragic? Is that the collective noun? Perhaps it should be.

Kensal Rise

MyrtleStrumpet · 13/11/2024 20:07

Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!!

Oh...

Actually no.

It only works if no-one has been in Nidd. 😭😭 😭

OK. It will have to be Lambeth North. 😔

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 13/11/2024 22:50

There are worse places to be than Lambeth North.

Oval

LlynTegid · 14/11/2024 07:29

Continuing to be south of the river, Tooting Bec.

Boredmum24 · 14/11/2024 12:54

A reverse to North Greenwich

HazelBite · 14/11/2024 20:33

I have been carefully watching and digesting the last few moves, as I don't want to go I to Nidd, I'm going with Turnpike Lane

MyrtleStrumpet · 14/11/2024 21:03

Great move. Allows me to turn widdershins to Buckhurst Hill.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 14/11/2024 22:39

Yippee! The perfect set-up for a Grantham Reverse to

Walthamstow Queen's Road

Seaside1234 · 14/11/2024 22:44

Ooh, lovely reverse there @GertrudeJekyllAndHyde

Using my Thursday bonus to go to Marble Arch

How could I have missed those last possible moves!

Three hours at the dentist this afternoon, that's how. And I'm not even joking.

Straight down the Central to Holborn.

LlynTegid · 15/11/2024 08:09

A reverse is needed at this point I think, as played in the 1995 tournament sometimes referred to. A move to Perivale.

GertrudeJekyllAndHyde · 15/11/2024 15:18

Perfect! I should have played this move this morning, but was distracted by an urgent call from the Major:

Ongar

MyrtleStrumpet · 15/11/2024 18:13

Ooh that's a lovely setup to scamper off to Preston Road!

Boredmum24 · 15/11/2024 19:04

I believe that opens the way for a diversion to Brixton

TragicMuse · 15/11/2024 22:07

Matters ecclesiastical have kept me from the game of games. Fie on them!

Dalston Kingsland.

BlackOrangeFrog · 15/11/2024 22:15

Bushey

MyrtleStrumpet · 16/11/2024 10:59

Tricky manoeuvre that. I remember at the Reykjavik Summit in 1985, (my first official international tournament), there was great discussion about whether the stations not actually in London and not actually on the underground were admissible in play.

I believe the discussions were never fully resolved. Were they still continuing at last year's Compendium?

In any case it means a smooth traverse to Gants Hill.

It was ratified at the Second Abertilly General Meeting that if they're on an underground line they're valid in November.

I'm in a positive social whirl this weekend, but couldn't miss the opportunity to nip in before tea with the undercurate to play Mill Hill East.

LlynTegid · 17/11/2024 08:54

The Northern Heights rule has not been played for a while- it caused consternation when introduced at the first post-rationing tournament in 1955.

Using it to move to Edgware.
