Hilarious maths question in DS's textbook.

The writer must have been as pissed off as we are today to be making this shit up. LOL.

Am wondering whether “favourite hair” was added by the editors because the original had Albert measuring something else.

Yes, it’s reminding me of Donkey Dawson and his ruler in the first Adrian Mole.

Bet this is a CGP book.

That is an utterly bizarre way to ask for the answer to the sum 3.77 + 3.92 + 4.09.

They're not wrong when they say that the real skill in the future will be determining what is right and wrong within the drivel churned out by Chat GPT.

Meadowfinch · 10/10/2024 09:09

I haven't got a proper calculator but is it 1.178 mm ?

Yes Wink

The BBC Weather app calculator says 6,804 metres in a westerly wind.

TeenToTwenties · 10/10/2024 09:17

They want the answer in metres.

They are probably checking understanding of standard form and what you do when the pre decimal point value gets to double digits.

RoundAgain · 10/10/2024 09:19

I want to know whether it was a head hair or not. Or was it a hare and his spelling was just wrong. So many questions...

How was Albert sure he was measuring the same hair every day??

Don't be silly, it was his favourite hair. He could obviously pick it out every time. Don't we all have a favourite hair?

I bet Albert was devastated when it fell out.

RoundAgain · 10/10/2024 09:32

Maybe he had one of those mighty comb overs that were so popular in the 80s and this hair was the only one that reached his other ear?
