Is this the most stunning man who ever lived?

I’ve just discovered an actor from the 1940s and 50s called Randolph Scott. He was super famous then - understandably - but seems to be much less well known now. Well suffice it to say my ‘Bobby socks’ are well and truly blown off! What do we all think?

Not particularly. I’m rather partial to the soft beauty of South Korean men nowadays (well the famous ones, the man in the street might not be up to much). I’ll never meet one (and a bit past it) but visually they are far more appealing to me now, probably a reaction to my disastrous relationship history with macho Western men.

Prettybubblesintheair · 09/10/2024 09:49

Dylan in the current bake off!

JANetChick · 09/10/2024 09:49

I’d go for Cary Grant or Richard Burton from that era.

Homosexuality and addictions aside!

On a serious note, it’s so sad that actors couldn’t “be themselves” in public until very recently. And some are still paying beards (allegedly). Gay sportsmen still struggle massively, sportswomen not so much. 😔

@biscuitandcake glad I'm not the only person to appreciate a forearm! 😁

Me also

Uricon2 · 09/10/2024 09:50

Paul Newman
Robert Redford (look at him as Gatsby and weep, Leo)
James Mason (best voice ever)
Cary Grant (someone once described him as "a handsome man who didn't behave like a handsome man")

First choice probably Paul Newman, who combined supernaturally good looks with intelligence and the ability to be genuinely funny on screen.

Sigh.

James Spader in Stargate.

James Spader is pretty hot, tbf.

watch The Secretary if you haven’t..

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 09/10/2024 09:52

No but I do love a rolled up short sleeve - not short sleeves!

Dogzillah · 09/10/2024 09:52

I think Mr Hardy is the most attractive. Sigh

OP agree he’s all yours!
but if Assaad Bouab wants to buy me a drink I might let him.
or Julian Clary

muggletops · 09/10/2024 09:54

I actually watched Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the weekend was bored and never seen it. Oh.My.God!! Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor god and goddess right there!

Touloosia · 09/10/2024 09:55

Matt Le Blanc is gorgeous. Still is too!

Robert Redford, objectively yes but reminds me of my dad so no! Paul Newman is unbelievable.

Kevin Costner is up there for me too.

My personal favourite though is a French rugby player, Thomas Castaignede. My type to a tee.

Time40 · 09/10/2024 09:55

Julian Clary

He was SO beautiful when he was a young man.

ramron · 09/10/2024 09:55

Rock Hudson is if we’re going that far back 😍

especially in his black roll neck jumper 😍

Pippetypoppity · 09/10/2024 09:56

Ive just been told about a lumberjack called Thoren Bradley on TikTok. If you are at work or looking after young dependent children DO NOT look at him yet. Wait until you get home. You will not come up again for some time when you do.

Dylan in the current bake off!

As soon as Bake Off started I said “there’s a man who’ll have a modelling contract before the end of the series!”

OP, you are confused. As others have pointed out Paul Newman is the most beautiful man to have lived.

Gregory Peck is also gorgeous and may have 2nd place.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 09/10/2024 09:13

Not in my opinion, but ‘stunning’ is subjective innit.

His name just reminds me of the brilliant Blazing Saddles (“just give me 24 hours, you’d do it for Randolph Scott”).

Mind you, I rather like the young Bing Crosby, so
I may be an outlier.

Blazing Saddles is exactly where I went! Grin

Rocknrollstar · 09/10/2024 09:57

Cary Grant, Paul Newman, steve Macqueen and Robert Redford for me! Quite like Sam Neil too.

Young Gary Cooper

TheYearOfSmallThings · 09/10/2024 09:57

He's not a patch on Paul Newman, but he's certainly a decent looking man.

beguilingeyes · 09/10/2024 09:58

Young Redford was something else. In a Navy uniform in The Way We Were..

Teeshs · 09/10/2024 09:59

More effeminate than handsome IMO.
Not surprised to read bi or gay.

Don't find blonds attractive but robert redford was very cute.

Paul Newman is in his own special territory I think. Those eyes... 😮

Me too!

DH said that when he was in the Far East on business, women used to comment on his forearms all the time. They were fascinated, as men from that region are less hairy than westerners.

whatwouldlilacerullodo · 09/10/2024 09:46

Haven't heard of him, but thanks for brighting up my morning. He's in the same category as Rock Hudson I guess (also gay, and unbelievably hot in All that heaven allows)

I love that movie; it's one of my annual must-watch Christmas films.
