Is this the most stunning man who ever lived?

I’ve just discovered an actor from the 1940s and 50s called Randolph Scott. He was super famous then - understandably - but seems to be much less well known now. Well suffice it to say my ‘Bobby socks’ are well and truly blown off! What do we all think?

Jensen Ackles 😍😍My ultimate crush. Have loved him for years and he gets better with age. Even my DH admits he is 'one good looking bastard' 😂

Yes! He's perfection.

I've been tirelessly googling every name mentioned, and this is the winner for me so far, I give you a young Alain Delon:

No.

Heckythump1 · 10/10/2024 11:21

He just looks like a bog standard bloke.

Dylan on this years Bake Off on the other hand.... even my husband said he's a beautiful man! 🤣

Storynanny1 · 10/10/2024 11:33

James ( not Josh) Brolin for me!
In more recent years David Essex
And even more recently - bit weird though as they are younger than my sons and not much older than eldest grandson - Alan Leech Downtown Abbey and the fabulously attractive Dylan from the bake off
Off to find James Brolin photo

If your telly is still set up to get telly as it's broadcast then Channel 82 on Freeview - Talking Pictures is amazing for old cinema. It was clearly set up for old people but I know a few film curators and journalists who are obsessed with it.

Also iplayer > movies > classic selection has a load of movies from RKO studio, some absolute classics in there.

There are also lots on Youtube. You could do something like search for 100 best film noirs and then see what's on there.

Turns out Talking Pictures has a Web channel! Free subscription (there are ads). https://www.tptvencore.co.uk/

TPTV Encore | Talking Pictures TV

Fancy teatime with Christopher Lee? How about an Alastair Sim or Boris Karloff film? Or Runaround with Mike Reid? It's all on TPTV ENCORE. It's FREE and can be viewed on any internet enabled device.

I’m amazed no one has mentioned the very beautiful Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

I was just coming on to mention him. Ruggedly beautiful.

Opened thread expecting to see a picture of Elvis, it's not, so closing thread.

Exactly what I thought!

Wow, looks a lot like Christian Bale.

Nah, Alan Rickman and Oliver Goodwill for me. Alan gets extra points for being a lovely human being too. Someone on MN relayed a tale of her and her friend getting drunk with him and then him getting them a taxi. Still sad he's no longer with us. 🥺

Wow, looks a lot like Christian Bale.

He certainly does! I think he’s been asked about the resemblance and apparently they aren’t related

Storynanny1 · 10/10/2024 12:13

Side by side James Brolin and Christian Bale

A good few pages ago, a PP mentioned Rik Mayall. God yes, he was beautiful.

And all the more beautiful for taking on mostly absolutely-not-beautiful (but brilliant) roles. Even Lord Flashheart didn’t use his natural beauty.

I think he’s the sleb whose death I’m most sad about.

TheGoddessMinerva · 10/10/2024 14:28

It’s not Lewis Hamilton or Maro Itoje, so no.

Hotafternoon · 10/10/2024 14:49

Don Johnson was quite the heartthrob in his Miami Vice days.

Pastel coloured trousers and jackets with the sleeves rolled up, loafers with no socks. He was quite the fashion plate in the mid 80s.

Rock Hudson in all those Doris Day films.

Or Rock Hudson in All That Heaven Allowed.

Haven't heard of him, but thanks for brighting up my morning. He's in the same category as Rock Hudson I guess (also gay, and unbelievably hot in All that heaven allows)

You got there first!

Ted was also a looker.

I know he was meant to be physically attractive but his eyes in that pic would give me the creeps even if I didn't know who he was. Strange, because a lot of utterly vile people look totally OK, don't they?

Paul Newman - sooo handsome, and just as handsome in his 60s as he was in his 30s.

Hi Mum

Or Rock Hudson in All That Heaven Allowed.

My aunt worked for Pan Am in the 1960's .They loved her British accent so she worked in first class. She said that Rock Hutson was her favorite passenger, he looked even better in real life. He also smelt divine, she never wanted to believe that he was gay. This made me think of her today, thank you @Andylion ❤️

upinaballoon · 10/10/2024 15:11

Sorry, can't read all through 346 replies. Randolph Scott was ok but not as lovely as Richard Widmark.

Paul Newman in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. 😻

I went with my mother to see Paul Newman in 'Hud'. Hey. Imagine his blue eyes being insolent when he made Patricia Neale an offer she might or might not have refused!
