Prams for tall parents!

Hi all!
First time parents - looking at prams and the choice is overwhelming (and prices are quite frankly ridiculous 😂). Anyway, am looking for prams that suit the taller parent - both over 6 feet! Went into Smyth's a few weeks ago and out of the 15 prams they had, only two were the right height. They were about £400 but I've been told that's too cheap apparently...!?

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for taller prams please? I've been offered an 8 year old Stokke pram which was about £1500 brand new and was the right height, but don't know if I should be getting a new one for our first or if I'm missing something obvious!

Thanks in advance 😊

I am 5'11" and DH is 6'4" and we really love our Nuna Mixx. It's the tallest we could find! All the scandi brands seem built for taller parents (and babies).

My DH is 6ft3in and he likes the Joie versatrax as the handles extend enough for his height.

Who told you £400 is too cheap? A second hand pram would be fine. Just clean it well and test it out.

DH is 6ft6 and I am 5ft 6 and the Verstrax did us really well with the adjustable handle. Both babies were really long which yours may be if you are both tall and it suited the babies as well.

I'm pretty average (5'8) but DH is 6'2 and we went with Uppababy Vista as he found it the most comfortable of all the ones we tried. They have just released the V3 so the V2 is on offer in lots of places if the V3 is out of budget. They had them on display in John Lewis and Mamas & Papas if you have either of those near you.

Another vote for Uppababy Vista, lovely big extending handle and suited my long babies, both DH and I are around 6ft. Great flexibility in terms of adding seats/car seat adaptors etc. Second hand is totally fine too, better for the environment and the bank balance!

Outlr Uppababy Cruz is great for super tall DH. It's not used by DD2, but DD1 is nearly 5 and can still sit in it so it suits tall kids too.

Built like a tank (mine is currently pushing by around its 5th child, not all mine!), so second hand is totally fine.

You want an uppababy. I’ve used them with both my children and they are fabulous, comfortable to push and sit in pushchairs that last.

There is a UK uppababy buy / sell / advice facebook group which often has some good buys in for second hand.

Husband (6'5") found the Vista to be a great handle height for him.

He pushes our YoYo2 with ease though!

DenmarkStreet · 08/10/2024 22:16

Another one with a 6'6 husband. We had an Uppababy Cruz.

Madcats · 08/10/2024 22:20

I am 160cm and DH about 6 in taller. Grab the Stokke if it isn't too expensive!

I walked everywhere and took it into restaurants. It might not work in a small car, though.

The table/conversation height and ability to swap the seat from forward to backwards facing is/was very useful.

Flev · 08/10/2024 22:31

We had a Joie Chrome and it was ideal for us as the handle could be easily extended so it was comfortable for my over 6ft husband to push, and for me (1ft shorter).

Just to add our experience - I'm 5'4" and DH is 6'8" (yes, we look like a comedy double act when we're standing next to each other 😄), so it was vital to find something that worked at both ends of the height scale. Like a PP, we ended up going for the Nuna Mixx - it was the only one we found where the handle extended enough for DH to feel really comfortable with it and as though he wasn't stooping. Also has the benefit of a lovely big basket underneath, and really smooth handling.

Just in case that helps anyone else ☺️
