Extreme pain after csection?

RC1992 · 07/10/2024 18:55

I had my second planned csection 5 days ago and have been struggling with the pain ever since.

I got out of hospital less than 24 hours after the operation and barely left the house, but I’m really struggling the pain on my right hand side in general as well as the scar. I’m keeping on top of my pain meds but they are not helping take the pain off at all.

Sometimes I’m struggling to walk to my en-suite the pain is so bad. I don’t remember the pain being this bad with my first, ive stopped bleeding but noticing quite a bad smell anytime I pee and not sure if it’s a sign of infection, my temp is normal.

I expected to be some pain but no where near as bad as this, just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issues and any advice on how to help the pain?

I would not mess about with this and I would be ringing the ward where you were discharged and asking their advice - they may ask you to come back in via ambulatory care (a quicker route rather than sitting in a and e for hours) to see if you have either a UTI which is causing issues or some other issue going on. I wouldn’t leave it.

You definitely need to seek medical advice. I agree first step ring labour ward. Now.

Hey lovely! Yes, I had exactly this with my first c section. Could hardly walk, extreme pain, I would end up in tears just trying to stand up. It was awful. Anyway - 5 days later I found out I had a nasty infection in the wound and was sent straight to hospital and was put on antibiotics for ages. My advice is get someone to check the section for infection asap - sounds like that might be it to me. Antibiotics will sort it. Hope you feel better soon. X

Please call the hospital, there'll be a phone number on your discharge papers which will probably take you straight to the ward or at the very least the right department. I suspect an infection and you really don't want to ignore that after a c section.

Ring the hospital - now

You possibly have an infection and you need to be seen, urgently
