Maternity pay difference from head office to everyone else

So I dont know where i stand with this.
my company has two diffrent Mat policys. One for head office and one for everyone else.

the difference is huge. Head office get 20 weeks full pay and 26 weeks at 80% pay

where as everyone else get 9 weeks at 90% then SMP. Surely this is discrimination against other staff ?

could i argue this?

I don't think it is automatically discriminatory unless there is something else such as non head office staff being predominantly female. Is there a situation whereby head office staff were originally brought across to a new company under TUPE or they are given incentives to work there due to it's location etc.

head office is in a normal location. id say less women work out of head office.

the policy for normal workers hasn't been reviewed in over 10 years but the head office staff was updated this year

I’m not sure what your argument would be really, it’s a difference in contracts for different workers.

Well it sounds immoral even if it's not illegal!
I would phone ACAS or speak to your union for advice.
You will need to check your contact.
It's a very divisive policy if nothing else. Clearly indicates how little they value the staff that don't work in head office!
