Can anyone shed any light on what this can be ?
No GP apts for over a week
Lump in back (ct scan said it's not cancerous and needs removing )
Itchy skin (chest and head and neck )
Passing dark brown blood
Hot sweats (feel like blood rushing to head)
Burning under armpit
Sore to touch above groin
This is my friend and she's worried understandably

I'd suggest your friend phones 111. They will probably be able to get her an emergency GP appointment.

No idea but sounds urgent. Try 101 at the very least, or a &e

(Is 101 the nhs number? I always mix it up with police!! )

I mean that nhs line anyway.

Oh - 111 !!!

Too close to police number to remember!

Could it be an over active thyroid ?

Call 111. Check your work medical insurance to see if it includes say a video/phone chat to talk to a private gp (or just pay) and get an initial check for peace of mind. or go to pharmacy and talk to them. You will get a more suitable medical response than mumsnet?

Could it be an over active thyroid ?

I don't think that would cause a person to pass dark brown blood.

There's bleeding somewhere.

PosiePetal · 07/10/2024 11:22

None of those symptoms are overactive thyroid (I had Graves Disease). Passing blood I would definitely seek attention for urgently.

metroblast · 07/10/2024 12:02

She went to a&e and they said it's just hormonal
Didn't bother giving her any blood tests or anything and said she shouldn't of been told to go (her gp told her to go )
So she just thinks she has to put up with it now

Passing dark brown blood from where?

metroblast · 07/10/2024 12:07

Discharge
She thought it might be the start of a period but it hasn't stopped

Not thyroid related. She needs urgent blood tests.

metroblast · 07/10/2024 12:27

I've told her to ring back to the GP and ask for a blood test
Although she had one a month ago and it checked her liver etc and said it was fine
Can hormones really cause all her symptoms ?

There are certain cancers that have symptoms like this. She needs to see a proactive doctor.

Fastback · 07/10/2024 13:02

I’d want a blood work up. Groin and armpit, plus possibly back, sounds like it could be lymph nodes, plus the itching and the night sweats…

Many women who present with things get dismissed with an “it’s hormonal,” and it could very well be, but those symptoms, plus the pain and swelling, could point to more sinister things too like leukaemia, which I’d want ruled out. Bear in mind, the worst case is very unlikely. Either way, bloods would be the place to start for me.

metroblast · 07/10/2024 13:04

She's got to wait till next Monday for the earliest blood test at her gp
Her hair is also coming out a lot too
