Medical abortion

I had a medical abortion due to health issues. Took the first tablet Friday and the 4 yesterday. I started bleeding about 3 hours after quite heavily for a few hours but by early afternoon and all of today I’ve barely had to change a pad. Is there a chance it’s failed? Please be kind I’ve not stopped crying for weeks.

I don't know anything but I thought I'd just be here until someone who knows something arrives.

Cp1992 · 06/10/2024 21:56

That’s incredibly kind of you thank you x

Sorry to see you’ve been so upset OP. I don’t know how long it’s supposed to take before it gets going some more. How is it now? Are you in hospital? Sending a big virtual hug.

not In hospital no and still extremely light bleeding lighter than even a light period and no cramps. Thank you x

Hey OP, sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had to do it a couple of times with missed miscarriages. It may well have worked, depending on how far along you were will dictate how much there was to pass. For me the pills either took hours to have any effect then it all went in a short period (a couple of hours of a work night shift) or didn’t work at all (laid on the bathroom door with intense shivers for an hour but never started bleeding, so ended up on the surgical route - under general which was a comparatively stress-free experience for me) It usually takes a couple of weeks for a home pregnancy test to go back to negative, but if you’re at all worried then please do call the EPU tomorrow and see what they say.

Stupid question but are you anticipating going anywhere tomorrow or will you be at home?
Is/can anyone be with you for a bit of moral support? And do you have painkillers in case they’re needed?

POTC · 06/10/2024 22:18

Have they given you a phone number to call if you're worried? Don't be afraid to use it, that's what they are there for x

I think I will call tomorrow. I feel like psychologically I’m praying for a miracle that baby has survived every (even the reasons for the procedure) thank you ladies x

I'm so sorry. It's the hope that hurts. Sad

@Cp1992 just seeing how you’re doing?

Cp1992 · 16/10/2024 22:35

thank you for checking in! No bleeding anymore and have no pregnancy symptoms so all hope is gone. Just trying to get my head around it all x

Bear in mind that even a 100% wanted abortion will mess with your head due to the drop in hormones. If you were conflicted, you should get therapy ASAP. Good luck. You’re not alone. One in three women have had one xxx
