hi . I have 3 children. 7 year old boy ,3 year old girl and 2 months old baby girl . I’m on maternity leave Til 2025 march .
i receive universal credit and dla . I’m wondering if my maternity finish and I’m not going back to work straight away can I still receive universal credit ? It’s a join account for me and my husband. My 3 year old is autistic I have to take her to speech and language every week and my baby gonna be so small still . I have no family here to help me and my husband working full time . So I’m the one has to stay home for the kids at least til the little one turn 2 and I’ll take her to nursery .

If you're a carer for your autistic child and they receive Dla I think they won't ask you to work until the child reaches 5. You could have a quick search on Google to confirm. Normally with a baby under 1 they won't expect you to work but at 1 they may invite you to interviews to discuss your return to work.

If your child gets DLA which they should from what you have said you should be eligible for the carers element of UC which will exempt you from conditionality

Yes no work requirement if you are a carer - someone getting child middle or high rate care DLA means you can be a carer as long as no one else is already for that child.

With a young child work commitments don't start until age 3. If you receive dla and qualify for carers allowance you will have no work commitments.
