Harrogate for a night out

Debating a night out in late October with friends (4 couples). Were mid 40s and like something a bit lux and special (we don’t get out much), with a vibe and some music but not tooooo rowdy (and no sticky floors 😉). Any thoughts on Harrogate? We’d probably eat and then have cocktails and a dance - usually a 3- midnight pm type arrangement. Ideally a couple of moves in the afternoon (so not a crawl). We’ve also got Leeds and York as options but they feel a bit more intense. Any thoughts?

I've been lurking waiting for someone to reply to you. I grew up in Harrogate - too long ago to be helpful. I return regularly - 2 weekly - but am occupied by elderly mother so don't get out at night. I was hoping that someone would come along and change my (historic) view of the town.

I'd be drawn to York or Leeds.

I’d go to Leeds.

The last time we stayed in Harrogate we saw a woman beating her husband up outside Wetherspoons. Not been back since. However we stayed at the West Park Hotel which is lovely, great food and ambience. Not in a hurry to go back though as there’s not that much to do.

Leeds has more to offer

Leeds or York. Doesn’t have to be intense. Will very likely be more enjoyable.

Thanks all - this is fairly unanimous- don’t go to Harrogate! @Paisleydad I’d always assumed it to be quite upmarket and ripe for the type of bars we’re looking for but alas not the case. Anyone who knows anywhere fitting the bill in York or Leeds please comment!

I like Angelica's and the Dakota for drinks in Leeds.

Hilton Sky Lounge for drinks and Bibis for a lovely meal! Leeds.

What's Hilton Sky Lounge like @Whoknowswhatanymore ? I've thought about meeting DC there for bottomless brunch but tbh it looks too cheap!

Foodwise Cut and Craft is my current favourite.

I can assure you, it’s not cheap! I have only ever been for drinks and it has been lovely on all occasions. Food has always looked good from what we’ve seen though. They didn’t know it was my child’s birthday and overheard us and then brought a complimentary drink and firework sparkler to celebrate! Completely took us by surprise!

Bottomless brunch is £35, made me wonder about the quality tbh.
