What chores are acceptable to ask of a 7 year old, and how much pocket money per week/per chore is an acceptable amount to give at this age?

Mine didn't do any chores apart from keeping their bedroom tidy and putting their toys away.
Plenty of time when they're older .. let kids be kids.
Pocket money was for just doing those two things and good behaviour .

£5

My 8 year old has to -

Make bed
Take plate, cup etc to the sink/dishwasher
Recycling
Feed cat
Put dirty clothes in washing basket
Tidy toys
Vacuum under his chair after meals (handheld vacuum)

I have one this age. She has some chores (mainly to do with tidying room and putting her clothes away), but that isn't linked to pocket money. She'll occasionally get £2 for washing the bottom half of the car but that's it. To me chores = things we do as part of being a family.

Mine doesn't get pocket money, but is expected to help around the house. They live here and create mess too, they need to help sort it out. It also teaches them life skills, and, imo, that you have to do things because they need doing, rather than for financial gain. They have to help load and unload the washing machine/tumble dryer, scrape and put their dirty dishes over to be washed, tidy in , wipe cupboard doors, and has recently started helping with cleaning the bathroom. I would like to add the jobs aren't every day or even week , just as and when asked (except for their dishes which are daily). If I decide to give pocket money it will be give irrelevant of chores

I'm being asked for pocket money too. I'm inclined to do 10% of age per week so 70p. I wouldn't pay for chores as feel strongly we all pitch in. 7yo lays and clears the table, puts the snacks and fruit and veg away from a shop, will tidy up the shoes and coats etc if I ask.

@PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance
I totally agree.

I give £3 a week to my 7 year old. No chore list but I expect her to tidy her bedroom and help when asked anywhere else adhoc. I don’t like connecting chores to rewards, you help because we are a family and we all have to help run a house.
