Edinburgh move

Hi, I'm a single mum with a nearly 13 year old. I lived in central Edinburgh for 6 years then moved back home to Aberdeen when my daughter was only a year old. I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist however there aren't much job opportunities up here or courses for further study. My daughter adores Edinburgh and we've talked about moving for sometime and we want to move before she chooses her subjects. Thinking about areas....I'm thinking Linlithgow, South Queensferry or possibly Dunfermline. I'm looking for a good secondary school and a commute within an hour for myself. I'd be happy to work in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Stirling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on other areas. She's nearly 13 years old and is into drama, musical theatre, sports and nature. Thanks so much

We’re in one of the areas you’ve mentioned and really enjoy it here. We have two DCs and one does musical theatre - there’s a lot around here. There are opportunities during Edinburgh festival too, a company called Captivate does a number of shows each year and they’ve just announced their auditions - they’re on FB.
Youre within close distance of nature (RSPB Leven is only 30 mins from Edinburgh) so lots for your daughter to do within her interests. Linlithgow is on the central belt train line, has a good secondary school and also has lots of kids activities. South Queensferry isn’t on that train line so not as direct to Glasgow or Stirling but obviously really handy for Edinburgh. House prices are high in both of these places to reflect their location and good amenities but I guess that’s to be expected!
All the best with your move when you make it!
