I've posted the wrong item on vinted

I dropped off a sold item yesterday at the shop and last night I realised I've only gone and posted the wrong bundle - argh. I've contacted the shop this morning and they've said it's been picked up by yodel last night so had already left.
What do I do now, wait for her to receive it and ask her to request for a refund? And, if if she still wants the item, relist and ask her to buy it again?

I did this, I let buyer know as soon as I realised and told her to raise a case for a refund when it arrived.

DilemmaDelilah · 06/10/2024 08:25

I would send her the right bundle and ask her to return the wrong one. You will have to be prepared for her not sending it back though.

This. You absolutely have to send the right one now.

I've had this happen to me. The seller contacted me and asked me not to open it and then he arranged collection and sent the other item separately.

But I guess then he must have lost some money on postage as would have had to post my item and also pay for collection of the other item!

xyzandabc · 06/10/2024 08:27

I did this once but didn't realise until the buyer contacted me to tell me. I had their address from the label so just posted the correct item at my own cost and told her to keep/donate/do what she likes with the item I sent in error. But this was 2 pairs of kids jeans sold for £1 each, might be different if your bundle is worth more

terriblyangryattimes · 06/10/2024 08:28

You can let her know and ask her not to collect it. It will then come back to you. Then post (at your expense) the right parcel out.

This working would depend on the buyer being happy to do this of course!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 06/10/2024 08:28

You still need to send her the correct one. Message the buyer so that they know you’ve sent the wrong one and not to open it, send a photo of the correct parcel so she knows which one she can open. Then ask her to send the wrong one back, you’ll obviously need to cover the postage for this. Hopefully if the buyer is honest she will send it back, if not then I don’t think there’s much you can do as it was your mistake.

Sallysoup · 06/10/2024 08:29

I did this once. I asked the buyer to not collect the first item, and sent the correct item out to their address at my cost. When they received it, they marked it received on vinted. The uncollected parcel was returned after a couple of weeks.

The buyer could have collected the wrong parcel and had 2 for 1 but they didn't luckily.

There will be an official way that's probably more sensible.

Yes. Although you'll have to pay her the return postage, you could do that by offering a discount on the correct bundle? Might involve having to cancel current bundle and her re-buying it. It's an easy mistake to make. If the bundle you sent wasn't worth too much I'd probably just leave it and send the correct one.

melandlover · 06/10/2024 08:43

this happened to me on ebay. I sold 2 items around the same time but mixed up the labels and sent the wrong ones to both. I let the buyers know and apologised, then offered them extra postage money so they could send to the parcels to each other. It worked well in the end as both of them were kind and understanding enough.

AmeliaHay · 06/10/2024 08:44

Hi everyone, i can't ask her not to collect it, its being sent to her house, so yodel will just leave it there. I have contacted her last night and this morning apologising and have asked her to "report an issue" once it arrives, I dont think there anything I can do atm whilst its in transit?

This happened to me the seller contacted me and told me the wrong item was on its way. I offered to return it if she sent me a label but she told me to keep it as it was her error and her loss, I gave it to charity. She also sent the correct one.

Yes send the right item

AmeliaHay · 06/10/2024 08:59

I'm obviously gonna send the right item, calm down it's not like I'm here scamming her of a £7 baby bundle jeez 😂 have a brew babe

OP posts:
Binman · 06/10/2024 09:38

So what's your dilemma it's £7, it will cost you half of that to have it returned, easy solved, tell her what you've done and for her to keep it.

Cherrysoup · 06/10/2024 10:08

She should keep the incorrect package cos Vinted tells the buyer to return at their expense, which is shit and unfair. Just re-send the correct one, your loss as you made the error. I’m in the position of being the buyer who received the incorrect item this week, seller apologised, said she was rushing, made a mistake, swore she’d send the right one and would send proof of postage but hasn’t so far. I contacted her to say yesterday was the last day I could complain to Vinted and she says ‘her little one has been unwell’. Sadly, I had to contact Vinted. I’m not holding my breath. Last time I had an issue, the seller said they’d been in hospital with cancer.

45fatandtired · 06/10/2024 10:52

Is it being delivered to her home or a local shop ? If the latter just ask her not to collect it, although her money will be sitting in limbo so up to her whether she wants to rebuy the correct bundle .
I would definitely inform the buyer , mistakes happen , not the end of the world at all
