Sharp and electric pain in crotch

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and experiencing on and off pain in my crotch. Feels like an electric shock. Has anyone experienced this?

I'd call the NHS about this asap.

It’s not an ectopic pregnancy as I’ve had two reassurance scans which showed a healthy pregnancy. Tried ringing but can’t get through

Possible UTI?

Or it could be the ligaments stretching as your uterus is growing. Is the pain constant or is it provoked by anything specific?

If you aren’t bleeding, in severe pain or in pain while resting it’s very likely to be soft tissue stretching but please get checked if you are worried.

Is it just ligament pains,? I think the uterus starts growing more rapidly and you get horrible strange pains including shooting pains straight up you and round ligament pains.
Some people call these the 'fanny daggers' (hate that but good description) - perhaps try looking that up and see if it's what you're experiencing

Nmcl40 · 05/10/2024 17:51

It isn’t severe and I’m not bleeding. Just more sporadic. I’m also constipated but not sure if that would cause it. I don’t seem to have other symptoms of a UTI but do have a lot of discharge. It’s just normal looking.

I googled ligament pain and I’m pretty sure this is what it is. Feels more in my vagina but it’s on my right side and it’s very sporadic coming and going

If you're worried call the community midwife, I'm sure they have someone on call at weekends even if it's just to talk over the phone if you're concerned, it's probably ligament pains though as your uterus will really start growing up beyond your pelvis now/soon so it's rapidly stretching and moving - very exciting times!

It just feels like a random sharp pain that lasts like a second or two. I’ve been sneezing a lot and I don’t know if that’s causing it.
defo no bleeding or severe pain

On the pregnancy boards I think they used to refer to this as fanny daggers or lightening crotch. I think it’s one of those weird but normal pregnancy symptoms.

PermanentlyTired03 · 05/10/2024 19:33

Sounds like ‘lightning crotch’. I’ve had it a few times this pregnancy. A sudden shooting pain that literally lasts a second or two and buggers off. I can’t remember what causes it but it’s a real thing!

comewhinewith · 05/10/2024 22:10

I had this during pregnancy too. It was fine but if you're concerned contact your midwife

WhimsicalMoth · 05/10/2024 22:17

I'd say ligament pains as they stretch and grow. I remember having awful pain around the area when I was pregnant.
But it's better to be safe than sorry, so I'd get checked out when you can.
