TTC positive then negative

Hi,
So I had a tiny bit of spotting once on 25th september very light pink, little bit of spotting the following day which was brown and that was once. Both times only when wiped.. now I've had nausea here and there, major heartburn, weeing alot, metallic taste and sleeping alot.
I done a pregnancy test yesterday (4th october) morning around 7am which was negative. I done another pregnancy test around 12.30pm which came back positive, but all tests since then have been negative.
Has this happened to anyone else before? Could I just be too early? What's the chances of having a positive test and then negative after? I understand hcg levels rise every 2-3 days in early pregnancy but then I wouldn't of got a positive test in the first place would I? I really thought I was pregnant seeing the positive test..
Has anyone been in this position or similar?

Thank you x

When is your period due? With the positive result, did this show up within the specified timeframe?

Love1993 · 05/10/2024 09:40

@Triangleflower Hi, I don't actually know when my period is due. I had a depo injection on the 5th may and didn't have a period during that. The result come up straight away. X

Are you testing before your period is due? And how dark or faint was your positive line? If you're testing early in your cycle then you might not be getting reliable results. But if you've had a positive test, however faint, then it has picked up on the HCG.

Those symptoms, except nausea, generally aren’t early pregnancy symptoms. It’s possible you tested too early.

@GroovyChick87 hey, I don't know when my period is due because I had a depo injection on the 5th may and I had no periods since. I thought the same because false positives are quite rare if I'm right x

I think all you can do is wait a few days and test again. The other poster saying about the symptoms is right. Heartburn is related to later stage of pregnancy caused by your growing bump pushing everything up and nausea for most women is a few weeks into the pregnancy. So if you were experiencing pregnancy related nausea, it would be showing clearly on a test.

Hi OP did you end up being pregnant? I am currently in the same situation.

Many thanks
