Sometimes we forget the small wins with the grind of daily life. I am in a positive mood, the best thing to happen to me was being accepted by an NHS dentist along with my 20 and 22 year old kids😀So,so happy.

The birth of my third DC! He’s just the happiest little boy and brings joy to everyone. His big sisters adore him and I love watching them all together.

Being accepted as a client by a disability employment agency. I'm not badly disabled (not enough to qualify for the disability pension) but have arthritis that affects what sort of work I can do and what hours. Being with this agency means I don't have to spend my whole time applying for jobs to keep Centrelink happy; my obligations are fulfilled by my fortnightly appointments. Given I've been my mother's carer for seven years and am sixty, my odds of getting work are not great, and frankly I'm enjoying life at last, so as long as the money holds out I'm happy.

Friendships blossoming.

Body confidence.

Coming out of the grief after losing my darling Dad to cancer last year. It's so nice to appreciate the better moments again without that dark ominous cloud hovvering over my shoulder. I wasn't in a good place this time last year.

My dd passing we GCSE's and thriving in college

Mine is less deep than most of the replies!
Receiving 2 bottles of Malibu with my online food shopping instead of just 1 that I had ordered (and only being charged for 1). They said I could keep it when I phoned them.

MySocksAreDotty · 06/10/2024 07:45

Having a genuinely great boss! Who knew it could be so life-changing not working for eccentrics or micromanagers.

MuggleMe · 06/10/2024 07:45

My ASD and LD DD (how's that for acronyms) so much happier in second year of middle school, friend transferring in and school supporting so well she had the confidence to get form rep and is embracing her ND.

abracadabra1980 · 06/10/2024 08:46

My puppy and my older dog bonding. An absolute joy to watch.

Being accepted for a student loan when I thought for years I didn't qualify and starting my degree at the Open University

I have had a really shit year but it improved when I handed in my notice at work. I’ve now got another job but when I handed in my notice, I had nothing to go to.

My mental health was so poor and it really is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I started the year feeling trapped in my job for another year or 2 but I realised it was damaging me beyond repair and it simply wasn’t worth it!

Same here -handed in notice in August to leave teaching forever in December. Love being in the classroom and will massively miss the fun and laughter I get from the pupils. but rubbish management and unreasonable entitled parents (secondary) make the job too tedious now.
Really looking to holidaying in sunshine the whole of ghastly January and February instead of never seeing daylight in those months.

Neveranynamesleft · 06/10/2024 08:52

Getting this far without totally and utterly losing the plot.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 06/10/2024 08:54

Saved up enough to restart our building work. 3 years of a half built extension! Poor dd2 has no bedroom. I’m hoping it’ll be water tight for Xmas. Then finish it in full next year. So excited. House will feel great again.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 06/10/2024 08:55

Burning out and having to take 5 months off work (something I never in my wildest dreams would have thought would happen if you'd asked me at the beginning of the year), done huge amounts of work, lots of therapy, still recovering but learnt so much about myself, am so much healthier than I was and am really re-evaluating the life I want to live moving forward. Bit cheesy but my therapist calls it a breakthrough rather than breakdown, despite being some incredibly tough months it's been a real privilege as I think its completely changing my life.

Applying for citizenship in the country where we are resident.

Birth of DD after a MMC last year.

KStockHERO · 06/10/2024 09:03

I have two:

  1. Dramatically reduced drinking alcohol and eating shit food. Lost weight, shifted bloat, look and feel better.
  1. Did a proper forensic analysis of finances and realised we could actually afford to retire now. At 38. Puts work into perspective.
BigDahliaFan · 06/10/2024 09:16

Losing stone and a half. And starting going to the gym to do weights at 55. Don't get me wrong, I don't like it...but I like the effects!

ImAnAutum · 06/10/2024 09:25

I went to the Eras tour, twice. They were honestly 2 of the best days of my life so far.

Bonjovispjs · 06/10/2024 09:57

I met my idol. Was such a lovely day.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 06/10/2024 10:02

Three major good things this year:

  1. DS settling into uni and having the time of his life - he lost his dad last year l, So I'm so pleased he's really enjoying himself now and doing well.
  2. Hitting the 5-year-cancer-free milestone
  3. Discovering and starting mounjaro and losing 52lbs (so far)

Ha ha, he was when I set up this account 😆 But it was actually the singer Mika who I totally adore. He was at Victoria Station filming The Piano.

Livinginaclock · 06/10/2024 12:32

Oh lucky you, I love Mika, went to see him twice this year.
