Boat ride on Thames

We are taking our 4 year old to London tomorrow (around St Katherine’s Dock/Tower Bridge area to start with) and would like to take him on a boat ride. We've never been before, does anyone have any recommendations please?

Thanks x

Thames link - Uber boat trip to Greenwich could be interesting and then back to House of Commons for photo of Big Ben .

There's boat trips going in both directions. From st Katharine's you could go down to Greenwich. Then sit in the park. Or a restaurant/pub. Theres a market there too which has quite a few stalls or there's an observatory at the tip of the hill.

Or a longer trip would be down to Chiswick/Kew the other direction where you can go to Kew gardens or to the river at Richmond. They do little row boat rentals in Richmond and there's loads of pubs by the river. Also Richmond park. We used to go to the White Horse after a boat trip.

Can u please stop recommending the Clipper as it's going to be a lovely day and I don't need busy boats. Heading to Greenwich!

The Clippers are always busy but only ever packed during rush hour.

There is a Spanish Galleon in St Katherine's dock. It's definitely worth a look..

I would just get an Uber boat, you can tap on with your bank card or buy a ticket

We’ve done this many times and it was always a big hit with the children. It’s really easy, OP.

That's exactly where we are going! To see the "pirate ship" according to my LO. Just thought a boat trip would be an easy thing to tag on to make more of a day of it. It's his first trip to London and I don't want to commit to too many things just incase he's not that in to it!

@Allme501 ah if that's the case you could get the boat to Greenwich and take a look at the Cutty Sark too! Then Greenwich park is nearby and could grab some food at the market?

Sounds like a great day, enjoy!
