How do you know that friendship with colleague or boss is genuine?
I've had what I thought genuine friendships in the previous workplace. Some survived us changing jobs, and I'm still in touch with a few years down the line. Then there are a few that were very friendly when we worked together, but once I left they have pretty much stopped communicating. It felt as if they were only friendly when I was potentially useful to them.
