Saddest breakfast (lighthearted)

On my way to work this morning, very tired after a super busy couple of weeks. I had to get some shopping for work so drove to retail park close to my work. Shop I needed opened at 8am and it was only 7.40am. Aha! I thought, I'll treat myself to a naughty McDonald's breakfast. Sausage patty with that yummy plastic cheese and a crunchy and salty hash brown washed down with a lovely cuppa while I wait for the shop to open.
I was literally buzzing.

Drove into the retail park, joined the queue for the drive through and other cars joined in behind me. Sitting there in the queue dreaming of sinking my teeth into the juicy sausage and toasted muffin.
I pulled up to the place to speak my order and ... disaster.
I was in the chuffing Costa drive thru.

Those golden arches were just a few yards away, laughing at me.
I actually had real tears in my eyes.
The Costa tea and bacon roll did not hit the spot.

Oh OP. Disaster. I would have swallowed the humiliation and told the Costa staff I had changed my mind - or actually, bought a coffee from Costa and then gone to McD's for the food. You should never have to eat a Costa bacon roll under duress!

Dammit that's rough.
It's no comparison but I bought some bagels, got one in the toaster this morning, opened the fridge and realised I'd forgotten to buy the cream cheese. Gutted. Butter-ish spread is not the same.

This is the kind of things I'm always doing. I would have ordered from Costa and been upset as well.

But the "saddest breakfast: title reminded me of a sad breakfast I had on a trip to London. I was in a cheap hotel and I had to get up very early for the meeting I was going to and told them I wouldn't need the breakfast that came with the stay. But as I was explaining this the chef heard and insisted on fetching me a breakfast to take with me. I said that would be lovely and a croissant would be great. He brought me a cardboard box with a croissant in it but he obviously didn't think that was enough and had added a sausage from the cooked breakfast.

So walking along the street I open the box to get the croissant out and went and dropped it 😩So all I had for breakfast was a lonely sausage which I had to walk along the street eating as I would have looked extra weird taking it to the meeting.

(I should have just picked something up from a cafe but by then there wasn't time and I felt bad for the sausage)

Haha thanks for the sympathy! I almost did just get a tea but would have been running out of time to queue for MacDs as well so felt a Costa bacon roll would be better than nothing! I definitely feel for the no cream cheese scenario and dropping the croissant would have made me very sad too! Glad it's not just me 😅

He was! He seemed really bothered by the idea of me going off without breakfast!
